À propos de cet audio
Interstellar, from acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan, takes us on a fantastic voyage far beyond our solar system. Yet in The Science of Interstellar, Kip Thorne, the physicist who assisted Nolan on the scientific aspects of Interstellar, shows us that the movie's jaw-dropping events and stunning, never-before-attempted visuals are grounded in real science. Thorne shares his experiences working as the science adviser on the film and then moves on to the science itself.
In chapters on wormholes, black holes, interstellar travel, and much more, Thorne's scientific insights-many of them triggered during the actual scripting and shooting of Interstellar - describe the physical laws that govern our universe and the truly astounding phenomena that those laws make possible.

#Audible1

Insightful look into a great film
I enjoyed the breakdown of various astrophysical and scientific concepts in the movie. Learning more about what was based on scientific truths, speculation, educated guesses, and where some creative liberties were taken for the sake of storytelling, I gained a deeper appreciation for the film and how much background work went into it.
However, I was not aware that this audiobook had an accompanying .pdf companion that is referenced often, so trying to visualize concepts discussed in the book were difficult without the visual aids.

If you get passed the constant name-dropping and lack of images ....
This book was very in depth and technical for a person who is not a physicist. I had a difficult time understanding some of the physics and equations and had to listen to those parts a few times over before grasping them.
Also! And this is the fault of the audiobook, the companion pdf didn’t include all pictures or diagrams that the author refers to. He often refers to images from the movie but they are not in the accompanying pdf! When I found excerpts of the printed book they are in there! Since the printed book is quite visual I would have expected the accompanying pdf to also include the same images. I was quite disappointed with that.
The narrator was pretty good and did the best he possibly could, given this was a difficult book to follow easily.
On a side note: I found the author liked to toot his own horn quite a bit which is understandable since he did discover many of the scientific themes used in the movie. He also really likes to name-drop but I guess if Stephen Hawking was my best friend I’d do the same!
I finished the book and was left wanting more! Some of the more difficult things he could have repeated or reiterated to help highlight them better. But he also really got my mental juices flowing. Unfortunately I also had to resort to google often throughout listening as I didn’t fully understand his explanations of some concepts.
I would say to definitely give it a try!! Once you understand the science it’s fascinating :)
