Use your head. That’s what we tell ourselves when facing a tricky problem or a difficult project. But a growing body of research indicates that we’ve got it exactly backwards. What we need to do, says acclaimed science writer Annie Murphy Paul, is think outside the brain. A host of “extra-neural” resources—the feelings and movements of our bodies, the physical spaces in which we learn and work, and the minds of those around us— can help us focus more intently, comprehend more deeply, and create more imaginatively.

A good first self help book
A nice, quick look into discipline. As with many self-help books, some parts seem contradictory, but I suppose it's about striking a balance. The delivery is casual and easy to listen to. While many of the anecdotes are familiar, it brings up some good points about having concrete goals, and really considering WHY we want to be disciplined. For someone more well-versed with the self-help genre, it may not bring anything new, but to a first-timer without the time to invest heavily in reading, it brings up some key points and questions that one can choose to research more heavily on their own.

Dreadful!
I listened for about two hours and then gave up. It is boring, pointless and lacking any gems of insight into enhancing one’s self-discipline. I got absolutely nothing out of it in two hours. The author is the narrator and he has a slightly irritating tone as if he were teaching a grade one class. Not recommending this one.

One book for the cost of six?
Had I recognized the brevity of this book, I would not have purchased for my monthly audible selection credit. It seems like the author has divided up one book into six books, all of them being very short and the first one being very simple/elementary. Will look at other authors for fulsome coverage of this topic, within one cover.
