À propos de cet audio

Bill Walsh was perhaps the most influential and successful coach in NFL history, transforming the San Francisco 49ers from the worst franchise in sports to a dynasty that won five Super Bowls. He is acclaimed not only for his strategic brilliance but also for his advanced approach to leadership. His teams sustained a consistency of excellence rarely seen in sports or anywhere else.

Drawn from a series of deeply revealing conversations with coauthor Steve Jamison, The Score Takes Care of Itself offers Walsh's best leadership principles illustrated by anecdotes from his entire career. Additional insights and perspective are provided by his son Craig Walsh. The book will delight football fans and guide the vast business audience eager to learn how Bill Walsh motivated individuals and crafted winning teams.

Great detail, inspiring but felt like it stretched on

I liked most of the book. Did a great job of telling the story of the 49ers and the standards and cultures that they built. As the story went on, it went into specific rules that the readers should do, which I wasn’t a huge fan of. Felt like the book tried turning itself into a step by step guide for what you need to do instead of letting yourself determine how to manage a team based off the experiences in the book.

Excellent

A bit stodgy and sometimes the war stories are somewhat repetitive but there's a goldmine of life guiding principles inside.

Narration

Decent story. Not to nit pick but the over pronunciation of “San Francisco”and “Environment” and over usage made it very hard to finish this.

Decent for early career leaders or business students.

If you’ve already read/listened to other leadership books, you won’t really learn much from this that you haven’t already heard, it’s all pretty basic foundational stuff. However, if you are new to leadership books, I think this is a decent starter. One thing I liked was that, because it’s entirely focused on a single industry, it’s easy to follow and visualize the concepts in practice (plus, it’s football, so it’s fun). If you are going into your first management job or studying for an undergraduate degree in business, this is pretty good - if you are experienced, you won’t gain much. Instead of this book, I would recommend ‘Straight from the gut’ by Jack Welch, it’s basically just a better version of this book.
