À propos de cet audio
Summer 1924: On the eve of a glittering society party, by the lake of a grand English country house, a young poet takes his life. The only witnesses, sisters Hannah and Emmeline Hartford, will never speak to each other again.
Winter 1999: Grace Bradley, 98, one-time housemaid of Riverton Manor, is visited by a young director making a film about the poet's suicide. Ghosts awaken and memories, long consigned to the dark reaches of Grace's mind, begin to sneak back through the cracks. A shocking secret threatens to emerge; something history has forgotten but Grace never could.
Set as the war-shattered Edwardian summer surrenders to the decadent 20s, The Shifting Fog is a thrilling mystery and a compelling love story.
An alternate title for this novel is The House at Riverton.

Shocking
As always she keeps you wondering until she brings it all together in the end.

Lost Interest - not the best Kate Morton
I LOVE Kate Morton's other books but I have stopped listening to this one with about 4 hours left to go. Its not that it's terrible, it just doesn't have the same charm as the others in my opinion. The mystery isn't compelling and the plot is overall quite predictable. I'm finding Grace's POV rather dull and wishing it was Hannah narrating, but I'm getting so bored of the plot that even when she switched to telling Hannah's story I decided it was time to switch to a new book.
Caroline Lee is as good as ever as the narrator, but if this is the first time you're checking out Kate Morton, I would recommend The Forgotten Garden, The Lake House, or The Clockmaker's Daughter over this one. I may pick it back up again to see what happens, but I doubt it.

Interwoven Fabulous Storytelling
A master work of literature. Plot intriguing, suspenseful. Characters so real you can almost touch them. Grace will forever remain in my heart.

This could be my favourite book by Kate Morton
What an excellent story. I thought it was a great overview of time and place. The 'upstairs and downstairs' of a large family home. The stories within that you could guess and the others that were a really interesting unveil. Plus an inspiring story of service for others and where you can go for yourself.
