À propos de cet audio
Meet Thomas Rosanoff: med student and researcher.
Meet his subjects: three homeless men who believe they are God.
Ever since his girlfriend ended things, Thomas’s life has been on a downward spiral. A gifted medical student, he has spent his entire adulthood struggling to escape the legacy of his father, an esteemed psychiatrist who used him as a test subject when he was a boy. Thomas lived his entire childhood watched over by researchers lurking behind one-way glass.
But now the tables have turned. Thomas is the researcher, and he’s convinced an experiment he has concocted will cure three homeless men of their delusional claims. When the experiment careens out of control, however, Thomas is forced to confront the voices echoing in his own head and the ghosts of his own past.
An explosively imaginative tour de force, The Shoe on the Roof questions our definitions of sanity and madness while exploring the magical reality that lies just beyond the world of scientific fact.

Entertaining
The Shoe on the Roof was not what I expected. It turned out to be a refreshing story of acceptance and humility.

Nuanced and entertaining
This is a novel of ideas, competing philosophies, tension and humour. The story is compelling and the narration is extremely well-done. So many of the narrators fall into repetitive vocal tics, but not this one. He is a pleasure to listen to.

Wonderful Will Ferguson
I’ve just finished listening to this terrific book for the second time. It has everything. Humorous, thoughtful and thought provoking. The narrator, Jacques Roy couldn’t be better. It is always the narrator that makes it possible to listen and enjoy. I have also read and admired 419, another Will Ferguson novel. These novels are not at all alike aside from their ability to captivate.

Diversionary!
This book has a bit of everything! It’s an exploration into love, faith, religion, mental health, psychiatry, psychology, brain biology, evolution, family dynamics and (why not?) murder mystery. There were times when it seemed the story was getting bogged down, but I’m glad I stuck with it! And although it perhaps borders on preposterous at times, I thoroughly enjoyed it. An interesting cast of characters. Hands down, my favourite is Eli. “DO I KNOW YOU!?”
