Ok Story, Performances Lacking
Normally I don’t write reviews, but the performances in this one made me feel I needed to. This book is an ok easy read. Its plot isn’t too complicated or hard to follow, but relies on some rather outdated tropes to move the plot along. The biggest thing I took issue with was the performance of the story. When it comes to audio books, it can be difficult to follow along if there are no noticeable changes to the narrator’s voice for characters. While accents are not everyone’s strong suit, a slight change to the cadence or pitch of the voice can make all the difference. I found that it was difficult to keep track of all the characters who were speaking. Especially in conversations with all main characters involved. So while the story was easily digestible, the performance took away from the experience for me, which is why I gave it 3 stars.
