À propos de cet audio
What would you do if your son became a stranger overnight?
Tired of their cramped London apartment, Aaron and Meera relocate to the idyllic village of Little Crake along with their two children, Noah and Uma. The new cottage looks out over the many miles of woodland beyond. It’s a far cry from their tiny flat and the perfect fresh start.
Until fifteen-year-old Noah wanders alone into the forest. For three days, a search party combs the woods. Aaron braces himself for the worst, convinced his son is lost forever. Until he finds Noah alive, hiding in the hollow of a tree. It feels like a second chance.
But why doesn’t Noah remember those three days in the woods? And why are there strange cuts slashed across his torso? Why did he cover himself in mud and hide away in an old oak tree?
Once a studious and gentle boy, Noah becomes a troublemaker at school. He withdraws from his family, sleepwalks at night, and creates eerie sketches of Dark Valley Forest. Aaron tells himself that Noah just needs time to readjust. He’ll soon be himself again. But Meera believes otherwise. This new version of Noah is harsh and cruel—a complete stranger.
A mother knows when something is wrong with her child. Aaron may be deluded, but she knows the boy who came back from the woods is not their son.

Unsure of this book
Strange story and I don’t believe in supernatural happenings. For the people who do I guess it is a compelling listen.
It was well narrated and the story was okay I listened to the end. Got into it a bit but it’s just not my style. Hope you enjoy.

Compelling Story
This is such a well-written book. I was on edge in every chapter. This book speaks about how untreated mental illnesses can rot over time. You understand the horror the family is going through. This would be such a great Halloween movie. 10/10 recommend it.

I couldn't sleep...
I've read quite a few of Sarah's books now and this one... well.... it drew me.
Maybe it's because when I was a child I had a fear of the dark, or maybe the writing style was so captivating I couldn't put it down and go to sleep. I think the last time I saw on the clock was 5:30 am
but what I do know..
There was a slight change to my morning routine; Small and subtle, but there.
Instead of hearing my alarm and hitting snooze to go back to sleep for those glorious 15 more minutes we all love... I had to turn the Torch app off on my phone first.

Acceptable Horror-flavored Story..
...awkward presentation
This Sarah A. Denzil tale follows a family dealing with a teenage son potentially haunted/possessed by a malevolent spirit. Pursuing psychological counseling, struggling with marital/parenting iissues, enlisting a Wiccan exorcist.. all told through diary entries and psychiatric therapy sessions as published in a journalistic exposé about the case.
The premise & plot progression is interesting, the storytelling matrix is clever, and the writing is capable.. but Denzil struggles with pacing, the story elements are largely unoriginal, and the ending is a little too hard to swallow.
As to presentation: Reader Shane Zaza is undeniably professional but is expected to occasionally read chapters from female points of view. Audible Studios Inc. includes tasteful incidental music and sound effects (scritching pencil sounds at the head of "Diary" chapters, for instance), but not casting a female voice actor for the mother & daughter parts is an odd editorial choice. After factoring in Zaza's non-expressive reading style (uninflected cadence & timbre), I rate the production "average" overall.
Altogether, 'The Stranger In Our House' is a passably entertaining 6/10-star recording. If you can get it as a 'Plus' option, it's a reasonable distraction for a couple of quiet afternoons.. but keep browsing if it leaves the catalog.

Disappointing
The book was disappointing as I really liked a different title by her. The writing was inflated, too much repitition. The story was quite weak.
The narration was ok except for the heavy sighing in the female character. This is a book, not a dramatic play. Just read the book.
Not worth a credit.
