À propos de cet audio

Mike Malloy’s hedge fund is more than just a money machine - it’s a weapon of insight, capable of forecasting global events with chilling accuracy.

When Mike’s proprietary software predicts an inevitable conflict between the United States and China, he faces an impossible choice: exploit the knowledge to secure unimaginable wealth, or risk everything to avert a nuclear war.

As financial markets teeter on the brink and global tensions escalate, Mike finds himself at the crossroads of ethics and ambition. With his closest allies questioning his every move and powerful enemies circling, he must decide - will he become the savior of humanity or the architect of its destruction?

In The Win Machine, Ryan McBeth delivers a gripping techno-thriller that explores the terrifying power of technology, the dangers of unchecked ambition, and the razor-thin line between profit and catastrophe. As the countdown to global annihilation ticks away, the ultimate question emerges: How far would you go to win?

Hi Ryan, enjoyed your first book, you could have added a bit more character development and added more complexity to the denouement. Please keep writing. Looking forward to your next works

Ryan’s storyline

It describes some things repeatedly but then expects you to know others and fill in the story for yourself. Similar to a new programmer reading c++ documentation.

The characters themselves are very thin and mostly pointless. When we are told specific details about them, it's usually just the same detail we were told earlier but presented differently.

This could make a pretty interesting short story. However at its current state it either needs to be cut down significantly or at a minimum tripled in content and doubled in length.

The ending: Without spoiling anything I found the ending pretty under whelming. There's a character introduction right near the end which could have been introduced much earlier in the book and used to add a lot of content to what is happening. Basically add a person at the other end of the conflict in the book to humanize the enemy. Other than what we currently have which is just a nebulous bad guy with no clear motivations. That is coming from someone who's familiar with the real world events and politics on display in this book.

I guess my main complaint with this is the content density isn't great. Super interesting concept however.

Reads Like Technical Documention

I just so happen to be the perfect target audience of a book like this. I'm an Afghanistan war vet who is now a software developer. He did a great job capturing both cultures. I enjoyed the story arc and felt like the ending was worth the read. It also gives a very interesting perspective on how the current global situation could play out. I highly recommend this.

Such a fun ride, highly reccomend

This book was a real "page-turner"! I cant remember the last book that I just had to finish because the story was so riveting. The premise was excellent, the characters and backstories were no exception either. The story leaves you questioning the nature of reality, and our own decisions. It is also a very good take on the current geo-political landscape. Also, if we start to let "things" make choices for us. Stellar book! Absolutly recommend it.

Was hooked before the end of Chapter 1.

Interesting premise, I found myself hooked and eager to learn what was going to happen next.

A page turner grounded in plausible future technology.

Listening to this audiobook is a lot like watching a Ryan McBeth video where he plays out likely war scenarios. This story outlines one such scenario that weaves in a ton of fascinating tech elements including quantum computing, drone dogs, and a nuclear tete-a-tete showdown with China.
Audiobook version was a solid listen and the narrator was fine, though the narration sometimes felt a little rushed, especially right at the end where it just kind of ... ended. One quibble: One character was named Ruchi, a fairly common Jewish female first name, and if that was the intention, the narrator butchered it over and over.
And hey, speaking of females, having grown up on Robert Heinlein stories, this story's obsession with the main character's wife's breast enlargement felt downright Heinlein-esque. All the seeing, touching, and exploration of said surgery, none of which had anything to do with the plot and all of which was nevertheless mentioned at every possible opportunity. Sure, Ryan's audience probably leans toward the manly men and I'm sure some of them found that delightful. As an adult and not a man (woman), I found it annoying.
I mean, yeah, I get that that's Ryan's brand, you've got the booze and the cigars and the bathrobe with the food stains and presumably the accompanying catcalls, groping, and disrespect. This book is basically all that in book form. But given how tangential that particular surgery was to the plot, maybe just mention it once and move on. I'm sure most readers will be able to get past it, but it just feels off and for sure coloured my perception of the book as a whole and the author as a person.

A fun ride, a bit too short as a book

Ryan please make the next book.
phenomenal story to learn to think like a geopolitical smart investment analyst. I work as a financial analyst and the finance part was great too!

I bought it to support Ryan but actually love the book

It slowly sucked me in, until it hit me in a cadence reminiscent of reality. Very unique and fun ride that had me questioning current capabilities and near future possibilities. I recommend

Plausible far-out fiction
