Description

I was enjoying the story greatly till the author destroyed his own characters. most of the conflict in this book makes no sense to me. Spoilers@@@ Why would ryu have lost his abilities for killing a night blade like renzo but not when shigure or orochi died he was much more invested and conflicted then. why make noriko such a selfish arrogant dbag for half the book. And the way the main fight ended is disgraceful. if it was a group battle I'd understand but talk about a terrible way to end ryus last duel. all that training and work to be bailed out like he wasn't strong enough just the decoy. Why cant the mc ever succeed on there own merits. it's always a prophecy or some last minute sacrifice or saving/interference. Not much to be proud of.

Reminded me of the star wars ending where u follow Luke's growth for 3 movies just so his daddy can bail him out, seems the good guys are always inferior and needing saving. Which makes sense throughout the book but at the end you'd think they could bridge the gap. I think had she protected him from many hunters and watched his back while he took out the leader it would have been much more enjoyable. They could have swapped out like a tag team alternating between dueling and protecting the duelist or have made the old man more of a fighter to give each of them a worthy rival at the end. Either way i felt sorry for him. If u break it done hes failed at everything.
