À propos de cet audio

The extraordinary documentation of the evolving friendship between the Dalai Lama and the man who followed him across Ireland and Eastern Europe, on a pilgrimage to India's holy sites, and through the Dalai Lama's near fatal illness.

On this remarkable journey Victor Chan was awarded an insight into His Holiness-his life, his fears, his faith, his compassion, his day-to-day practice-that no one has reported before. We've heard the public voice of His Holiness--now we are invited to listen in on his personal explorations, and to take instruction on the Tibetan art of living.©2004 His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Victor Chan; (P)2004 Penguin Audio and Books on Tape, Inc.

Candid story telling and invaluable lessons, Mr. Chan allowed me to live vicariously through his experience with the Dalai Lama.

Amazing Journey

The writer has taken it upon himself to write about a topic that requires a deep understanding of compassion and consideration for others. He has attempted to write in service of the teachings of the Dalai Lama and the Llama's name appears above his in many searches. The writer of this book is a critically poor choice for the topic of forgiveness. His writing is cold and sensational, it implies that he lacks compassion and empathy as characteristic in himself, fundamental assets in understanding and articulating forgiveness. This is especially true when it comes to his understanding how to present transitions of topics and care, both for his audiance and for his subjects. His need for Journalistic shock value may be appropriate for sensationalist news stories but here, in a book whos audiance is largely scarred by pain and loss, here where people have reached out for wisdom, from the Dahl Llama himself, for a way to survive and process incredibly powerful emotions, here, this writer is groosely out of place. Here his lack of understanding, especially when recounting issues regarding women that have been through torture, here he falls short. Here his style is sad disappointment and in fact damaging to the reader. He does not understand trauma, he does not grasp the impact of the topic he has attempted to be a stuart of. He has increased harm to readers that have come looking for sanctuary and found themselves misunderstood, forced to relive their words nightmares as they attempt to find connection with peace but find themselves enduring the egotistical selfimportant musings of a cold ghost writer who is more interested in processing his own since of inadequacy on a world stage then he is grasping the point. Selflessness is an act of care for others, if that concept can not be understood then this writer has no business taking on this kind of writing ever again. It saddens me that I will not be able to reccomend this book to clients, and that I have work to do undoing the trauma this book has heightened in a portion of the population already fragile. It is so unfortunate I have become cautious of this publisher as well. Very poor choice. Absolutly would not reccomend to anyone who has suffered trauma and is looking for a way to find peace and forgiveness for themselves, their aggressor or their society. So sad.

Disrespectful and dissapointing
