Richard Freiherr von Rosen was a highly decorated Wehrmacht soldier and outstanding panzer commander. After serving as a gunlayer on a Pz.Mk.III during Barbarossa, he led a company of Tigers at Kursk. Later he led a company of King Tiger panzers at Normandy and in late 1944 commanded a battle group (12 King Tigers and a flak company) against the Russians in Hungary in the rank of junior, later senior lieutenant (from November 1944, his final rank). Only 489 of these King Tiger tanks were ever built.

Good listen but spotty
Was a good listen and a great account but the story has large gaps in time. It is not a day to day account and tends to jump from a few day to day actions to randomly a few months ahead. Was very much like reading a journal rather than a story.
Still a very good account of a WW2 German tank commander.

A very well articulated perspective
I enjoyed every minute of this and the alternative perspective it provided on history. It is important to hear both sides of every story despite the atrocities perpetrated because nothing is binary. The author gave a detailed account of his experience and opinion. The narrator provided an excellent tone which was easy to listen to and I especially enjoyed that all characters were in the same voice - corny voice acting ruins many audiobooks.

An Interesting Man
Fate or perhaps luck spared this Tanker from death several times and we are fortunate to have this vivid description of German Russian warfare. I heard abit of this on YouTube and was compelled to buy it on Audible. The beloved Panzer Tiger tanks were the heart and soul of this fighting soldier. The voice is perfect. 5 Stars.

Great book!

Somewhat disappointing
I am quite a visual person and a good book will bring images to my mind. Tigers in the Mud failed to do this for me. The book does cover the details of his career and is written by a soldier not a professional author. I appreciated his honesty dealing with political questions of how the German soldier was unfairly judged post WW II . The most entertaining part of the book is when he criticizes the American Land Army in Western Europe as cowardly and incompetent.
