À propos de cet audio
Sydney Loch's experiences in the war shaped his life afterwards. With his wife, Joice, he went on to work in refugee camps in Poland and Palestine and his many subsequent book set in war-torn countries reflected his humanitarian beliefs.
In To Hell and Back historians Susanna and Jake de Vries have recovered and edited Sydney's book for a new generation of readers and listeners and have written a biography of his remarkable life.

First Hand Aussie Account From Galipoli
Whiel an interesting first hand account of the battes at ANZAC cove I did find that thete was a little too much time spent on the pre war life of Sydney, while some is necessary for understanding his character it felt a bit slow at the beginning. Sydney was in the artilery so there is not much first hand account of action taking place, but overall it is a good insight into what daily life was like on that front of the war for an colonial soldier. The narrator does an excellent job overall and uses different voices for different characters which add to the listening experience.
