À propos de cet audio
The goals of the budo - the martial arts and ways of Japan - lie in refining the body and spirit. These goals are not always the obvious ones - and are learned only through the guidance and direction of great teachers.
The techniques, methods, and rituals of the sensei can serve as guides to a well-lived life - and provide invaluable lessons for today's martial artists. This collection of essays includes discussions of:
- The spirit of ryomi...
- The importance of yuyo...
- The significance of ma...
With its focus on traditional martial arts, and fascinating stories that illustrate key martial arts principles, Traditions will be required listening for serious martial artists.

Deep
I think that this is one of the deepest and best martial arts books I have read (and I have read a few). It not only applies to Japanese martial arts traditions, but is applicable to all other types of martial arts. I think it is an essential read for any martial artist who is interested in moving their martial arts beyond the kicks, punches, locks, throws, cuts and stabs.

Good material, awful delivery
I really enjoy reading Dave Lowry’s work but sadly the audible version doesn’t live up to the written version. This narrator is simply irritating. I’d put it more kindly but I’d be doing prospective listeners a disservice. His voice and inflections are so grating that I constantly lose track of what it is I’m listening to. I’ve looked at other Dave Lowry books on audible and they all seem to have the same narrator. It’s unfortunate for me that I won’t get to hear any of them, and it’s unfortunate that good writing misses out in purchases because of the delivery.
