Just Ride the Bucking Bronco!
That's the message I got out of this audiobook, just go with the trend (also heard as the trend is your friend, but not all friendships last forever). Look for trending markets (up or down) and ride those for as long as the market allows. Like catching a wave. Takes the simple concept of that and expands on it by using real life examples, how there were a lot of winners from the 2008 financial crisis. All because they saw trends, that was the insider information but nothing illegal about that. It taught me to read between the lines and sometimes the answer is just hidden in plain sight. It's what these trend followers saw in 08 just by reading the charts.
I highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in investing (stocks, commodities, etc) as well as any traders. A lot of great insight and throwing all of the mumbo jumbo (so called "expert" advice on CNBC or other news, numerous complex technical indicators, opinions of others) that scares the s*** out of most people from trading out the window and takes making money in the markets back to basics.....follow the trend. This book takes what has worked for nearly thousands of years (trends not only in the markets but also throughout human history) and applies those philosophies in the modern day.
A side note, this book does not give you a step by step guide to become a successful trader. Well it kind of does if you listen carefully, but it's not what most people are looking for and they likely never will find that in any trading book. The challenge with having a proper strategy is that it has to suit your personality, compliment your strengths, and work around your lifestyle. No author will suggest one particular strategy that will work for the reader for if you take the above into consideration, you'll have hundreds if not thousands of different strategies and they all would work for the specific person. Also if you suggest a strategy and the reader loses money from that strategy, naturally they'll blame the author for suggesting that, write a nasty review and never recommend them. However, they do not take into account the above mentioned for what makes a solid strategy. Trading is very paradoxical and most people have a hard time understanding, if not even know that prior to entering the markets. That's why very few succeed.
This audiobook is a valuable stepping stone in getting you to those very few who do succeed.
