À propos de cet audio
A masterful synchronization of history and cutting-edge science shines new light on humanity's darkest diagnosis. In the wake of the Cancer Genome Atlas project's failure to provide a legible road map to a cure for cancer, science writer Travis Christofferson illuminates a promising blend of old and new perspectives on the disease.
Tripping Over the Truth follows the story of cancer's proposed metabolic origin from the vaunted halls of the German scientific golden age to modern laboratories around the world. The listener is taken on a journey through time and science that results in an unlikely connecting of the dots, with profound therapeutic implications. Transporting us on a rich narrative of humanity's struggle to understand the cellular events that conspire to form malignancy, it flows like a detective novel, full of twists and cover-ups, blind alleys and striking moments of discovery by men and women with uncommon vision, grit, and fortitude.
Ultimately we arrive at a conclusion that challenges everything we thought we knew about the disease, suggesting the reason for the failed war against cancer stems from a flawed paradigm that categorizes cancer as an exclusively genetic disease. For anyone affected by this terrifying disease and the physicians who struggle to treat it, Tripping Over the Truth provides a fresh and hopeful perspective. It explores the new and exciting nontoxic therapies born from the emerging metabolic theory of cancer - therapies that may one day prove to be a turning point in the struggle against our ancient enemy. We are shown how the metabolic theory redraws the battle map, directing researchers to approach cancer treatment from a different angle, framing it more like a gentle rehabilitation than like all-out combat.

Since the beginning of the 20th century, cancer rates have increased exponentially - now affecting almost 50 percent of the American population. Conventional treatment continues to rely on chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation to attack cancer cells. Yet research has repeatedly shown that 95 percent of cancer cases are directly linked to diet and lifestyle. The Metabolic Approach to Cancer is the audiobook we have been waiting for - it offers an innovative, metabolic-focused nutrition protocol that actually works.

Early in her career, Kelly Turner, PhD, a researcher, lecturer, and counselor in Integrative Oncology, was shocked to discover that no one was studying episodes of radical remission, when people recover against all odds without the help of conventional medicine, or after conventional medicine has failed. She was so fascinated by this kind of remission that she spent eight years travelling through 10 countries to learn what factors that people experiencing this phenomenon encountered.

After being given a terminal diagnosis with only a few weeks to live, Jane McLelland dug up research, some decades old, in her quest to survive. Rather than aiming to cure cancer, which in many cases is unachievable, Jane's approach was to stop it growing. Remarkably, her approach not only stopped it growing, it disappeared altogether. There are now clinics following her protocol, achieving remarkable successes.

Amazing book - speaker needs work
Amazing book! Clay doesn’t use a microphone filter to block out harsh whistling on the letter ‘s’ - this makes for terrible high pitches when listening! Ouch! Additionally, he mispronounces many words which is a real distraction from the story.

Effect of Narrators ear hurting "S's" nullified
By going into your phone's Sound profile and pulling down the volume on the top 3 highest frequency settings (16k, etc...) Other than that, a highly fascinating listen about the failings and a great hope for a new direction in Cancer Research.

Good book - difficult narrator
Great content. The narration is distracting. Clay does mispronounce words while his articulation is sharp and harsh. Unfortunately, this distracts from the content. If you are able to get past this, the book is very good.
I personally struggled with the narration, but the content was so good I stuck it out until the end. A worth while listen, but not as enjoyable as it could have been. If you are looking for the beginning of the intended take away of the book, I suggest starting at Chapter 25.
