This is a so-so and confusing novel. It's as if the M. Collings tried to pack several themes into one story and, in doing so, ruined what may have been an acceptable entrance into the horror genre. I wish that authors would stop trying so hard to create entangled, complicated plots and go back to the basics; you know, spooky atmospheres replete with good ol' fashioned hauntings. I am impressed, however, by the author's message in the Afterword although, like his book, that message may have been more powerful if it hadn't been diminished by a lack of focus. As always, Scott Thomas is a fine narrator.

Best part of this book is the author's Afterword.
