Amazing Series

Good series.

I have one gripe though, and that's the interludes. When was the last time you watched a film that paused itself for a short interlude? Never? What does a film usually do to switch scenes? It transitions. It doesn't need to say "interlude" it just interludes, no questions asked. It's like starting an essay or paper with "In this essay, I am going to," unnecessary language because the reader already knows its an essay.

The interludes should have been dispersed throughout the books and only used at the end of the book if really necessary. Especially the big long 1 hour+ long interludes. Because switching to a character you don't really care about for an entire hour kinda gets boring. But if it had been dispersed throughout, it would have likely been more interesting.

One prime example of a poorly timed interlude is the angel trapped in the roof of the dragon's lair. Imagine having heard that scene *before* Elaine walks in. I think it would have made that scene much more suspenseful. In-fact, there could have been scenes since the very first book involving the dragon wherein you learn about its powerful escapades. That way when you do get to the parts involving a dragon and Elaine, the importance of the scene is really driven home.

Also, it might have been interesting to have a curse or skill for Elaine that increases her terrifying fear of the dragon in return for some other benefit.
