À propos de cet audio
This book is the first of its kind to identify the existential crisis faced by vegans.
Vystopia is the normal response any feeling human being should have after discovering the nature and extent of society’s systematized animal abuse. It’s fueled by the trancelike collusion of non-vegans with a dystopian world they’ve not yet realized they’re part of.
Best-selling author Clare Mann, a vegan psychologist, communications trainer, and existential psychotherapist, not only validates the vegan’s experience but rejects medical labels that claim such anguish is abnormal. As a telling witness to vystopia - a term she coined in 2017 - she provides vegans with a language and toolbox to work through their anguish and unite with others to examine the biggest social justice challenge of our time: our relationship with the animal kingdom.

Amazing resource for vegans and their loved ones
I have been recommending this book to every vegan I come across. Thank you for writing it. Vystopia was exactly what I needed but couldn't find when I first converted to veganism, and now 3 years later it is still extremely useful and I'm grateful to have found it.

Great but wish it was longer and more detailed
I've been vegan for 3 years and I'm an activist on FB, take every opportunity possible to talk about it and sometimes go to AV cubes pre-covid (scheduling issues). I'm also struggling big time with the health care professionals complacency towards recommending a plant based diet for health and officially discrediting the keto diet. I'm a cardiology nurse and work with interventionalists that will tell patients their heart attack is 100% smoking related and never mention healthy diet habits because none of them smoke, and none of them are plant based.
To me the book's greatest achievement is putting language and definitions to the experience of vystopia. Then the book really languished for a couple chapters describing the obvious and then it got good again bringing in theories of adult behaviour change and the tipping point. For me it was a really useful introductory level of information and I think it would have benefitted from better editing and writing a book to a lower level of comprehension and interest and writing a book to a higher level of comprehension and interest, this is in a kind of weird no man's land. I hope to see more from the same author - I think the book is still worth purchasing, and it's the kind of thing that i'll refer to in the future when I'm writing professionally but I'm just can't say "oh you'll love it" as is.

Profound
Profound in every possible way. It’s my new go-to. Thank you, Dr. Mann for writing such an important book for vegan who experience the devastating pain of vystopia.

It’s not what I was expecting but it’s good.
I’m not entirely sure who the audience for this is. The first half seems to be aimed more at non-vegans but the latter is definitely aimed at vegans.
I also don’t agree with quite a few of her claims. For example, she thinks that having sources for claims will greatly help to convince people; any vegan can tell you that that is simply not true. People do not care about the facts.
Still, I’d recommend it. If you’re a non-vegan reading this PLEASE listen to it. If you’re already a vegan, I think it’s still worth a read/listen.
