À propos de cet audio
Noted transcendentalist Henry David Thoreau spent two years, two months, and two days chronicling his near-isolation in the small cabin he built in the woods near Walden Pond on land owned by his mentor, the father of Transcendentalism, Ralph Waldo Emerson. Immersing himself in nature and solitude, Thoreau sought to develop a greater understanding of society amidst a life of self-reliance and simplicity. Originally published in 1854, Walden remains one of the most celebrated works in American literature. This version of Walden, or Life in the Woods was recorded as part of Walden and On the Duty of Civil Disobedience.

A contemplation of life
To have read this when I was 16 it would have shifted my view slightly shown me a world not of material excess but of simple humble pleasures. to have read this at 25 it would have impacted my life in ways I couldn't imagine, yet I did live a simple life of limited luxury, of hard work I didn't see the whole meaning. Now, for the first time, at 37, I've taken this book on in the isolation and quarantine of COVID-19 and it's been a remarkable journey. a book of minimalism, of living modestly, of living intentionally. about not looking for life outside but rather looking in to yourself. it shall have a lasting impact on me as it's had with many of those who care to read it.
