À propos de cet audio
On my eighteenth birthday, I got kicked out of my home, mugged in an alley, and killed a guy with my mind ... then things got weird.
I expected aging out of the foster care system to be hard. I wasn't expecting it to include finding out I was a Warlock, destined to be hunted by the most powerful Witch Families so they could bind me to a coven of thirteen witches and spend the rest of my life "harvesting mana". Add to that a set of magical resonants that made me an even bigger target to some of those Witch Families, some of which would rather kill me than let a rival get me.
How's a warlock supposed to stay alive and free? Simple - just go to Witch College, find thirteen witches willing to be bound to you forever in your own coven, and learn enough magic to fend off the most powerful Witch Families in the world.

Surprisingly great
I don't really have words for how much I have enjoyed this particular book, and its sequel which I purchased separately as soon as it was available as an ebook.
I highly recommend it.

Way better than you might expect.
The Performances were great, Rozelyn Rader is good at giving distinguishing voices to the characters, and communicating the intended emotions in the writing. Lewis Alexander is pretty great too, but since he only spends a very brief time playing anyone but our Male lead its hard to say for sure what his range is, he still does the narration & playing Noah really well.
As for the writing itself, I came into this with low expectations I won't lie, but as I listened I was continuously pleasantly surprised, the characters feel realistic, relatable and likeable, the lore & magic system are interesting and engaging, and the story leaves you with mysteries and questions about characters you want answered because you're genuinely interested. It has some decent foreshadowing, and the buildup to the climax leave you feeling curious & engaged. Though I will admit the mystery aspect of this book isn't its strong suit, you can usually figure out what's going on or what characters are going to do.
Now that's not a bad thing in my mind, because the characters take relatable actions in a lot of cases, making them feel realistic and with depth and in the case of characters who are meant to seem mysterious and intelligent actually behave with intelligence or mystery. I never find myself thinking a character is doing something dumb specifically for the sake of plot, it always feels realistic, and the main character is really likable and relatable.
Most importantly if you're expecting the girls to come worship the ground he walks on or something silly like that, I'll tell you right now nothing like that happens, well its clear some of the Witches at least all like him to one degree or another, never does it feel like they're infatuated with him out of thin air like love at first sight or anything like that. Wry amusement, mutual flirtation, cautious consideration, innocent crushing and even just genuine friendship that may or may not lead somewhere else, all include reactions he gets, and those are just a few of the positive & neutral ones.
Characters feel like they have their own motivations, expectations, joys and goals outside just the fact the main Character is a Warlock, in a society where Witches far outnumber Warlocks, among much of the other lore you'll learn later on.
And as far as explanations for why the main character is going to have a "harem" so to speak, this one has one of the most reasonable premises for it.

A rare gem in haremlit
It's hard to believe this is the author's first novel.
Warlock is a well done book. Warlock begins with a chapter to establish the character and his problems before bringing in anything supernatural into the mix. The main character is likeable and the worldbuilding interesting. The plot is slow paced, but that isn't a bad thing - the college setting makes it feel a bit like Harry potter for adults (along with some referential humour in that vein). Of course, there has to be a reason for the harem, and the book throws that in early - but the harem is a slow build, and the main character only has one girlfriend by the end of the book. Sex is slow to come, but sexy situations abound. There's still plot and character development, but the harem is definitely taking on a bigger role by the end of the book. The characters in it seem fairly three dimensional, and the duet voice actors are excellent. I would be happy to buy the sequel, except it's not out yet!

Solid story
A good standalone story but even better as an introduction to the world and characters. Eagerly awaiting the next in the series.

Histoire
A Spellbinding Journey into the Hidden Magical World
What if you found out you had magic—not as a kid, but as a full-grown adult? Warlock by Daniel Kensington takes that classic fantasy premise and gives it a fresh, entertaining twist. Instead of receiving his invitation to a magical school as a child, the protagonist only discovers his hidden potential as an adult, throwing him into a world that has existed just beneath the surface of normal life. And to make things even more complicated? The school he’s meant to attend has historically been an all-girls college.
The novel follows our unlikely hero as he struggles to catch up with his classmates, many of whom have been training their whole lives. But what he lacks in experience, he makes up for with something else—his magic is special, even among other spellcasters. This sets the stage for an exciting, often humorous, and sometimes tense journey of self-discovery, power, and learning to navigate a world he never knew existed.
Kensington’s writing is fast-paced and engaging, striking a great balance between action, humor, and world-building. The hidden magical society feels richly developed, and the sense of mystery keeps the reader hooked. The protagonist is likable, and his struggles—both magical and personal—make him easy to root for. The supporting cast, especially his classmates and mentors, add depth and charm to the story.
If you enjoy books like Harry Potter but want a fresh take with an adult perspective, Warlock is a fantastic read. It’s got magic, intrigue, and a protagonist you can’t help but cheer for as he stumbles (sometimes literally) through his magical education. Definitely worth picking up if you love modern fantasy with a bit of humor and heart.
