À propos de cet audio

Dr. Neil Anson Clemons was born at the very moment that men first landed on the moon and always strived to become an astronaut and reach the stars. Neil devoted his life to staying physically fit as any astronaut should be through martial arts and mentally fit by studying and becoming one of the world's foremost experts in quantum physics and gravitational theory. Now he and his team have achieved a breakthrough, both in building a warp drive, and finding a new energy source powerful enough to make the drive more than an interesting theoretical concept.

With the help of attractive and outspoken southern astronaut, US Air Force Colonel Tabitha Ames, the US Government is convinced to fund the Top Secret warp project, including assembly in orbit of the first faster-than-light probe. Unfortunately, forces working behind the scenes have much darker dreams, and have infiltrated the Top Secret program. They do not hesitate to blow up a space shuttle, attempt to kill Neil and Tabitha, and use the stolen warp technology to start what they expect to be a short, devastating, and victorious war with the United States.

But Dr. Clemons has ideas for using his warp drive technology completely unsuspected by America's enemies, and repelling the all-out attack is only the beginning of a titanic struggle to reach the stars.

Warp Speed a keeper

After reading the series ‘Looking Glass” by John Ringo and Travis S. Taylor I wanted to find out if Travis S. Taylor was as good a writer as John Ringo of whom created good characters that forward the plot easily with banter, humour and imagination.
I think that in Warp Speed, the story was an interesting mix of wit, southern drawl, and loudmouth entitlement to be raw, albeit entertaining since there was quite a bit of science theory to put down.
The book kept my interest, and I had looked forward to reading the next book, “Quantum Connection”.

Ye all come back now eh! Nope, don’t think so…

This is my opinion only, YMMV.
Why does the Author have Narrator talk in some good old boy southern twang?
then there are amazing sentences such as these…. Ah feel strong enough to wrestle a gun dart!
Son of a bitc* dog in heat. If a frog had wings it wouldn’t bump its a** on the ground. What??
This might give away some of the plot, only a bit and it might be useful if you need to use a credit.……..How much does almost five minutes covering every single detail of a shuttle add to the book?
“WFG” : That’s 1 of the 32 acronyms mentioned throughout the book. How about WTF!? What do all these acronyms add??
What benefit is it to describe in detail every part of a spacesuit?
One of the Characters has a problem with Bronchitis. The Author said it and I get it. So why mention another four times she has to use her inhaler? How does that add to character development?
So the shuttle launching, I get that you should describe it. So why add a full five minutes counting down the launch sequence, then describe every little valve and gadget?
Half of the damn book is about describing things in great detail. Way too much time spent on this. The final scene which made me drop the rating from a two to a one was the 13 minute Karate/gun/knife fight. Yes that’s true, I timed it. That did it for me. Seriously? I was waiting for the Author to start measuring out the distance between each strike. I give him a ten for the longest fight I’ve ever listened too in my life…..and finally, the amazing bad guys….can you guess? Aliens? Nope…it’s those bad commie waving flag stomping Chinese! Let’s nuke em all for the glory of the USA! Uh..I’m Canadian eh! Make love not war ;-) It’s a one star for me…sorry.
