À propos de cet audio

A revolutionary new offering from Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, renowned psychologist and author of the global bestseller 12 Rules for Life.

In We Who Wrestle with God, Dr. Peterson guides us through the ancient, foundational stories of the Western world. In riveting detail, he analyzes the Biblical accounts of rebellion, sacrifice, suffering, and triumph that stabilize, inspire, and unite us culturally and psychologically. Adam and Eve and the eternal fall of mankind; the resentful and ultimately murderous war of Cain and Abel; the cataclysmic flood of Noah; the spectacular collapse of the Tower of Babel; Abraham’s terrible adventure; and the epic of Moses and the Israelites. What could such stories possibly mean? What force wrote and assembled them over the long centuries? How did they bring our spirits and the world together, and point us in the same direction?

It is time for us to understand such things, scientifically and spiritually; to become conscious of the structure of our souls and our societies; and to see ourselves and others as if for the first time.

Join Elijah as he discovers the Voice of God in the dictates of his own conscience and Jonah confronting hell itself in the belly of the whale because he failed to listen and act. Set yourself straight in intent, aim, and purpose as you begin to more deeply understand the structure of your society and your soul. Journey with Dr. Peterson through the greatest stories ever told.

Dare to wrestle with God.

Ce que les critiques en disent

“At a time when so many of the mainstream Christian churches are either drifting along with the culture or turning inward to bicker about who has power, it is perhaps not surprising that the most compelling interpretation of the Scriptures is coming from a layman, a psychologist, someone outside the ecclesiastical structures. Jordan Peterson makes no claim to give an adequate theological account of the Bible, but he is indeed shedding light on what the Church Fathers called the ‘moral sense’ of the sacred text. It is practically impossible to imagine anyone who would not find illumination and inspiration in the pages of this book.”—BISHOP ROBERT BARRON, founder of Word on Fire

“This book revitalizes ancient wisdom and builds a bridge between human biology and theology—a bridge we must cross to rescue ourselves and our civilization from the biblical errors now visible on every horizon.”—BRET WEINSTEIN, cohost of DarkHorse Podcast and coauthor of A Hunter-Gatherer’s Guide to the 21st Century

“Peterson breathes psychological fire into ancient mythological motifs, and he proposes a new understanding of spirit that bridges religion and science. This book will help many people recover the roots of their spirituality while orienting them to a new expression of that spirituality.”—JOHN VERVAEKE, professor of psychology and cognitive science, University of Toronto, author of Awakening from the Meaning Crisis, and creator of the video series After Socrates

Excellent and Interesting Book

We Who Wrestle with God is an extraordinary exploration of the human spirit, diving deep into the complexities of faith, morality, and the struggle for personal growth. Jordan Peterson has once again crafted a masterpiece that bridges the ancient wisdom of religious texts with modern psychological insights, urging readers to strive upwards toward the Absolute Good and to recognize the spirit of God embedded within our inner conscience.

One of the central themes of the book is the idea of striving towards the "Absolute Good" — an ideal of moral excellence and spiritual integrity. Peterson uses the story of Jacob wrestling with God as a powerful metaphor for the human condition. This epic struggle is not only about wrestling with divine forces but also about confronting the very essence of good and evil within ourselves. Peterson argues that this ongoing struggle is central to personal transformation, urging us to seek out higher meaning and virtue, even in the face of suffering and doubt. He believes that, much like Jacob, we must wrestle with the divine and our own limitations to evolve into the best versions of ourselves.

What makes this book truly remarkable is how Peterson ties the idea of striving towards the Absolute Good with the spirit of God that resides in our inner conscience. He makes a compelling case that this divine presence is not just an abstract theological concept but a vital force within us, guiding us towards moral clarity and a sense of purpose. Peterson shows that, when we align our actions with this inner conscience — the voice of God that speaks through our highest moral impulses — we move closer to fulfilling our true potential.

His analysis of biblical figures like Adam, Eve, and Jesus Christ is equally profound. Peterson explains how these archetypes represent aspects of the human experience that call us to confront our flaws, overcome temptation, and embrace redemption. For Peterson, these stories are not merely religious parables but timeless guides for how we can cultivate virtue, wisdom, and a deeper connection with the divine spirit within us.

Throughout the book, Peterson blends psychological theories with spiritual wisdom, offering practical insights into how we can integrate these profound ideas into our daily lives. His ability to connect abstract philosophical concepts with real-world applications makes the book both intellectually stimulating and deeply inspiring.

In sum, We Who Wrestle with God is a powerful call to action: to wrestle with our own flaws, to strive toward the Absolute Good, and to listen to the spirit of God within our hearts. This book is an essential read for anyone seeking to better understand their moral and spiritual journey and to uncover the transformative power of aligning with the divine presence within us. Peterson’s insights will leave readers not only enlightened but also inspired to live with greater purpose and integrity. Highly recommended

Start with the conclusion

Great book. Insightful and inspiring. But- the beginning lacks direction. Start with the conclusion, then read the book. This will lead to a smoother listening experience.

Reestablishment of the covenant

This book is a beautiful and forceful examination of our fractured relationship with the essence of what is good. It is so abundantly clear to so many of us that we are collectively lost in the dessert. Jordan has tirelessly strived to set an example for the rest of us of what renewal of the covenant with the divine looks like and this book is just the latest example of that striving. His unique ability to integrate across the disciplines of religion, psychology, evolution and many more permits the open minded reader access to the collective wisdom contained in the stories of the bible in an entirely new way. This books unflinching treatment of the fundamental realities of the human condition is a gift for those of us hungry for the truth.
