Life changing book!
I was delighted to meet Nicholas on the beach in Waikiki and hear about his book and his poetry. He gives off such a positive aura you can't help but be curious about how he became who he is and thus I purchased the book. I was delighted to find it on Audible as I already had too much weight for my suitcase to hold another book. Nicholas' book takes on vulnerability to a deep level.
Nicholas is so engaging and genuine that the chapters are easy to listen to. His voice adds another level of intimacy to the book as he shares his personal stories. Through listening to them you learn you're not alone when you recognize some behavior being discussed. And he's funny. I will never forget his story about the airport parking lot.
Nicholas's work is like a look at the human condition and how to live as our most honest, fulfilled selves. He talks about many forms of religion and the impact each has had on his life. He shares his personal stories and then encourages you to reflect on your own story to learn the Art of Living. Throughout his book, he comes back to the same message that we are all broken and need to acknowledge our brokenness to come to terms with it, be vulnerable be authentic, and ultimately love ourselves.
One of the things I loved was Nicholas' message that if you feel shame then he can guarantee other people feel that same shame and that we need to address it and let it go. He points out through his poetry and his writing that vulnerability is considered a weakness among many people, but he makes a great argument that it's not a character flaw, but one of the greatest strengths we could possess.
NIcholas' work comes together wonderfully well for anyone who is striving for a more authentic life. (That's all of us, by the way.) I learned things that help me understand why I act the way I do.
I've already revisited his book for a refresher. Highly recommended for ... everyone.

Honest look at oneself
This is a great book, the author truly examines himself in full honesty while guiding the reader/listener to reflect on their innermost self. I would suggest this book over and over again to anyone who has or is struggling with life and to anyone who likes a good read.
