À propos de cet audio
Every year, millions of withdrawn little girls and chronically overwhelmed women go undiagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder because they don't fit the stereotypical profile: they're not fast-talking, hyperactive, or inattentive, and they are not male.
Sari Solden's groundbreaking study reveals that ADHD affects just as many women as men, and that the resulting depression, disorganization, anxiety, and underachievement are also symptoms of ADHD.
Newly revised and updated to reflect the latest clinical research, the book explores treatment and counseling options, and uses real-life case histories to examine the special challenges women with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) face, such as the shame of not fulfilling societal expectations.
Included is a brand-new chapter on friendship for women with ADHD. Three empowering steps - restructuring one's life, renegotiating relationships, and redefining self-image - help women take control of their lives and enjoy success on their own terms.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (Also known as ADHD) presents itself in three main symptoms: inattention and hyperactivity or impulsivity. Hyperactivity and impulsivity are closely related and oftentimes coexist with inattention. Women and girls with ADHD most often go undiagnosed for several reasons. This is due in part because women tend do have less obvious or less misbehaved characteristics than men do.

Life changing
I have suspected I have ADHD for a long time, but this book helped me understand it fully and gave me the confidence to talk to my doctor about it. I’m now finally getting the treatment I needed all these years.
Excellent book, engaging, so helpful. I found it best played at 1.2x speed. Perfect for playing when you are doing chores around the house.

Stick with it!!!!
I almost put this one back on the shelf when the narration began, it was a bit of an adjustment because her tone is reeeeeally hard to get behind. the content however is excellent and because I connected with it so much I didn't notice the narration as much as it went on. the woman she describes over and over again is me...she is talking about my life, and it's so validating. well worth the time to read and a wonderfully resource for partners as well.

Excellent book! Better at 1.2x playback speed
This is a must-read book for women w/ ADHD. The content is detailed, helpful, and unnervingly accurate. Sari Solden's writing is articulate, insightful, and accessible. She weaves together a mix of clinical observations, research data, and more story-like narratives in ways that illuminate complex issues without being condescending.
Note: the audio narration is sluggish, but you can ADJUST YOUR PLAYBACK SPEED TO 1.2x OR FASTER to fix this. At 1.2x playback speed, it's perfectly fine. (I suspect it's a recording issue, not the fault of the narrator.)
Solden is brilliant at collecting the vague, nebulous patterns of ADHD life and expressing them clearly. This is empowering for the ADHD reader. It is also helpful for explaining ADHD struggles to neurotypical people, and for figuring out how to adapt, organize, and get effective help. Solden clarifies SO many details of ADHD that are challenging, but hard to put into words. Other books speak to broader ADHD work/life issues. For women, ADHD clashes with social & cultural expectations in ways that cause emotional damage and self esteem issues. That's why this book is so important.
If you've struggled with untreated (or mistreated) ADHD for years, the clarity of this book may trigger some heartache. But it's backed up with practical advice on addressing and improving your challenges. There's also a strong focus on recognizing the inherent strengths and aptitudes that come with ADHD. This book is my #1 recommendation for women w/ ADHD. It's truly life-altering.

This book changed my life for the better
I honestly didn’t know what ADHD truly was until I started reading this book. It prompted me to seek a diagnosis and treatment. The anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation and executive dysfunction I’ve experienced my entire life all started to make sense in this book. The treatment I’ve received for ADHD has been effective for all of the things I’ve mentioned and I’m forever grateful for Sari Solden’s book. It actually brought me to tears because my life finally made sense within its pages.
