À propos de cet audio
The voice of the soul can be heard through poetry, helping us to look at the world in a new and different way. Sometimes it brings to light details we may never have noticed before. It is a way to express feelings and emotions about a person, image, or event.
Images, feelings, ideas; all of these could be described in a myriad of ways using poetry techniques, bringing to life the expressions in an intense, succinct and yet vivid manner.
Poetry takes on many forms, many of them free-flowing and informal. For poems that come, raw, from the heart, some of these can be the best ones.
Poetry is different from other literature genres because we gain a higher understanding of what it means to be a good writer. Being able to use all our observational skills in reading said poetry allows us to write better in many ways.
Along with the joy gained from the simple act of writing poetry, it helps to stimulate the creative right brain, and become more true to ourselves in the process. The small creative voice in your head becomes clearer the more you practice, and in turn, that creates better poetry.
Poetry is a succinct practice in writing, training us to be concise with our words in order to not waste them. However, in saying so, it’s important to not leave out details as you construct images with your poetry, as the beauty of writing comes with being able to generate images within the minds of anybody reading it with ease.
Although quite common and to some of us, easy, poetry does not necessarily have to rhyme. In fact, poems that tell a story are more common and often much more personal if it is imbued with the feelings and memories of the one writing them. Reading other poems for inspiration is incredibly important to learn what can work, and how to make things better. Sentence structure, as well as reading out loud can help you make sense of the poem. An outside ear is always welcome, since at the end of the day, poetry is a literature form that is meant to be heard.
