À propos de cet audio
If your life has been affected by addiction (yours or someone else's), abuse, trauma or toxic shaming, you may also be struggling with another invisible problem - codependency. Without your even being aware of the connection to the above issues, it has created additional life-long challenges such as endless guilt, anxiety, perfectionism, need to control, depression, a history of dysfunctional relationships and much more.
This easy-to-understand, interactive book will reveal how codependency has sobotaged you, the lies it created in your beliefs and the truths that expose them. Also included is a Guide to Recovery using simple acts of mindfulness to overcome harmful habits in your thinking, actions and choices that are keeping you from having peace. Once you understand you are not crazy, just coping with the deep-seated effects of codependency, you will be free to create the life you were always meant to have.

Most people don't realize how much unresolved emotional pain they carry around. They don't know why they always feel depressed, anxious, victimized, or disappointed. They wonder why they keep making the same self-sabotaging impulsive decisions. These patterns often stem from their lost inner child, which carries a false narrative that has been on repeat since childhood.

Actionable & Encouraging
Most people would benefit from the information in this book. The ideas and instructions are simple and althought this healing work is not easy, this book breaks codependency down into very relatable and solvable behavior patterns.
The narration is excellent. Well paced and intoned. YES read/listen to this book.

Absorbed
I found it great. For me, the way it was presented allowed my brain to absorb it like a sponge…. Similar to a codependent person and there experience in their life growing up

insightful interesting listen
This book provides a comprehensive description of codependency, how it develops, how it plays out and what helps it improve. It lists outside resources in the body of the book, but not as a separate list. It took me a while to listen to. I stopped and then resumed a few months later. it picked up from audio ch 9, which provided a good summary of the information before, offered positive next steps and even made me laugh at times. In all, a very worthwhile listen

Horrendous
Stating personal opinions as facts is not helpful to those who are seeking actual help and change. It’s great that the writer found solace in her faith, but for many folks with trauma, god is the source of much of their trauma and telling those people that god is the only answer is not only false, but harmful. Along with that, shaming women specifically for wearing “provocative” clothing first of all has nothing to do with codependency, but also is just judgemental and again, extremely harmful. I would absolutely never recommend this book to anyone.

Too many chapters about god
If you are not into the bible you will have to skip to about a third of the content. Taking such an important part of the f this book it should be highlighted somewhere before you start to listen.

Nose dives for the atheist in me
The beginning was promising; the authors story resonated with me and the ‘help’ aspect seemed to be going in a positive trajectory.
The last 3 hours of the book was spent wrestling with the dialog trying to pick out the relevant portions to my life as the author begins to primarily focus on her relationship with god.
Perhaps others won’t have the same issues I had with this book, but for me it left much to want for.
