Not all mothers give birth to children but can still be mother by showering love and support to many. This Mother’s Day, we are proud to have Mukunda Mala Manes garu, also known as Mala Aunty by many queer people across India. She is a proud rainbow mother to her child she gave birth and to countless queer kids who doesn’t have the fortune to get such supportive parents. Mala Aunty  garu have been creating and mobilizing conversation of parental support, allyship, inclusivity and equality in the society and been working towards uplifting many queer kids. Parental support goes a long way in helping LGBTQ+ children come to terms with their sexuality and in creating awareness about a cause that’s mired in prejudice despite the landmark Supreme Court ruling that decriminalized homosexuality. While some parents cannot be convinced enough, some can be talked into opening their minds. And for them Mala Aunty stands as a strong pillar of hope and support.
