Chris was born and raised in the small farming and ranching community of Nanton, Alberta.
It was clearly established early on in his life that he would not be raised with pity or sympathy. Within hours of being born, his grandma was informed that his parents gave birth to a healthy baby boy; however, he was missing both arms and both legs. Without any hesitation whatsoever she simply pointed out the fact that, “Bruce (his father) never did finish anything he started”.
Chris attribute that dry and quirky sense of humor as the reason why he can honestly say that growing up without arms and legs was quite easy.
His family could have treated his disability like a total tragedy but instead chose to take it all in stride and make the best of the situation. After all, he still had a good head on his shoulders… and with that, anything is possible.
In this episode we ‘get into it’ with Chris about:
-What it was like growing up without arms and legs
-His theories on life
-His motivation and message
-Awkward conversations in public
