This week on The Entertainment Engine Podcast we speak with Chantel Cofie a multifaceted talent based in Sydney, Australia. From her start in the arts at just 6 months old, she is now a professionally represented singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, actress and screenwriter. Chantel was introduced to acting as a young child and has been in numerous television and film roles. A few career highlights include working with, The Disney Channel, Fox, and Channel 7.
Chantel rose to musical prominence very early in her career, being awarded a scholarship to Australia’s leading academic and performing arts school, The McDonald College, at 15. In 2015, she graduated from Inaburra High School, with a 4.0 GPA in Music Theory, Musicology, Live Performance and English Literature. Following in the likes of global superstars (Quincy Jones, John Mayer, Lalah Hathaway and Charlie Puth), who attended the world’s most prestigious music school, Berklee College Of Music, Chantel was also accepted on a scholarship.
Her latest performance startled the nation after appearing on season 10 of The Voice Australia. The coaches gave her a 4-chair turn and a standing ovation after she sang her original song ‘2020’ for the blind auditions; a song inspired by the Black Lives Movement. With 1.7 million viewers watching that night.
Chantel has always been passionate about writing. From collaborating in songwriting and conversing with the likes of Erran Barren Cohan, Hélène Muddiman, Usher and Quincy Brown, to writing numerous screenplays, she is excited about the prospect of getting her first screenplay green-lit. Now at 24, she has a huge career ahead of her. She has an ambitious vision to fulfil her dreams of dominating the international music charts and writing and performing in critically acclaimed films.
