African Safari: Not So Gentle Giants

  • Résumé

  • Welcome to the 11th episode of Freaky Fauna Files podcast! Today we’re touring the African Safari where we visit the wise elephant and the chonky hippo. Stay tuned for the danger zone, these gentle giants aren’t as gentle as they seem. WARNING: it’s a gory one!

Beginning with the elephant, follow these family-oriented fauna and learn how they use a powerful communication system to broadcast across the vast African desert. While they are known to be friendly and helpful towards humans, it may surprise you the lengths they are willing to go to protect their herd.

Shifting to the aquatic side of Africa, did you know hippos can live to be in their 60’s?! Known to our ancestors as the “Water Horse”, these absolute units can reach insane speeds in both land and in water. But watch out! These fauna have one of the strongest jaws in the animal kingdom, a trait that shines in the danger zone…

A huge thank you to all of our listeners, wherever you are. Don't forget to send us your freaky animal questions and/or encounters and follow us on social media@freakyfaunafiles. For spooooky season, we will shine a light into the eerie & mystical world of bioluminescence. Thanks for listening and Stay Freaky!
