  • LIFE AFTER PRISON, REDEMPTION WE ALL DESERVE
    Jun 23 2024

Loving ourselves and opening up to the world with vulnerability is a deeply personal journey that involves several key steps.

Incarceration is not the end of life. Many people find ways to rebuild and transform their lives after incarceration.

  • LEARN YOUR BUSINESS
    Jun 10 2024

Understanding the different types of business structures and intellectual property protections can be crucial for entrepreneurs. Here's a brief overview of trademarks and the common business structures:

    ### Trademarks
    - **Trademark**: A trademark is a symbol, word, or words legally registered or established by use as representing a company or product. It protects brand names and logos used on goods and services.

    Key Differences
    - **Liability**:
    - **Sole Proprietorship**: The owner has unlimited personal liability.
    - **LLC**: Members have limited liability, protecting their personal assets.
    - **S Corp**: Shareholders have limited liability.

    - **Taxation**:
    - **Sole Proprietorship**: Income is taxed on the owner’s personal tax return.
    - **LLC**: Can choose to be taxed as a sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporation.
    - **S Corp**: Income is passed through to shareholders to avoid double taxation, and it is reported on their personal tax returns.

    - **Formation and Maintenance**:
    - **Sole Proprietorship**: Easiest and least expensive to form, with minimal ongoing requirements.
    - **LLC**: Requires filing with the state, ongoing fees, and compliance with state regulations.
    - **S Corp**: Requires filing Articles of Incorporation, adopting bylaws, issuing stock, holding shareholder and director meetings, and maintaining corporate minutes.

    - **Management Structure**:
    - **Sole Proprietorship**: Managed by the owner.
    - **LLC**: Can be member-managed or manager-managed.
    - **S Corp**: Managed by a board of directors elected by shareholders.

Understanding these differences helps in choosing the right structure for your business based on your specific needs, liability concerns, tax considerations, and management preferences.

  • OUR KIDS EDUCATION
    May 26 2024

Education and vocation in schools are critically important for several reasons:

    1. **Foundation of Knowledge and Skills**: Education provides students with the essential knowledge and skills necessary for personal and professional development. It fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to adapt to new situations.

    2. **Economic Opportunity**: Vocational training in schools prepares students for specific trades and careers, increasing their employability and providing them with the means to support themselves financially. This is particularly important in today’s job market, where technical skills are in high demand.

    3. **Personal Development**: Schools help in the holistic development of students by promoting social skills, ethics, and values. Education encourages self-discipline, responsibility, and the pursuit of personal goals.

    4. **Societal Benefits**: An educated populace is essential for a functioning democracy and for the overall progress of society. Education promotes civic participation, reduces crime rates, and fosters a sense of community.

Regarding special education, schools handle it through various methods to ensure that students with disabilities receive a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE):

    1. **Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)**: Schools develop IEPs for students eligible for special education services. These plans are tailored to meet the individual needs of each student, setting specific goals and outlining the services and accommodations required.

    2. **Inclusive Education**: Many schools adopt inclusive education practices, where students with disabilities learn alongside their non-disabled peers. This approach promotes social integration and provides opportunities for all students to benefit from a diverse learning environment.

    3. **Specialized Support Services**: Schools provide various support services, such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and counseling. These services address the specific needs of students with disabilities and help them succeed academically and socially.

    4. **Assistive Technology**: Schools use assistive technology to support students with disabilities. This includes devices and software that help with communication, mobility, and learning.

    5. **Professional Development for Teachers**: Ongoing training and professional development for teachers are crucial for effective special education. Educators learn about the latest teaching strategies, technologies, and legal requirements to better support students with disabilities.

    6. **Parental Involvement**: Schools encourage active involvement from parents and guardians in the special education process. This collaboration ensures that the needs and perspectives of the student are fully considered and addressed.

Despite these efforts, challenges remain, such as ensuring consistent funding, maintaining qualified staff, and providing adequate resources. However, the commitment to improving special education is evident, and ongoing efforts are being made to enhance the educational experiences of students with disabilities.

  • RELATIONSHIPS ARE HARD & I NEED THERAPY
    May 13 2024

My relationship with my mom has taught me the importance of open communication, trust, and empathy in fostering a successful relationship. By observing and experiencing these qualities in my relationship with her, I've learned how to express myself honestly, listen attentively, and understand others' perspectives, which are all crucial for building and maintaining strong connections with others.

It's commendable that you respect women and recognize the importance of guidance. While you may have wished for more support from your mom, it's never too late to seek guidance from other sources. Building strong relationships often involves learning from various experiences and individuals, including friends, mentors, or professional resources like counselors. This diverse input can help you develop the skills and understanding needed for successful relationships.

  • MY MORTGAGE
    Apr 28 2024

This was a tough situation. Rising property taxes and an adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) definitely put financial strain on me as a homeowner, especially in a new community where taxes were increasing rapidly. I wish I had considered discussing my options with a financial advisor or reaching out to my local tax assessor's office to see if there were any tax relief programs available.
This was in 2006 and the internet and influencers wasn’t as available. People were also gate keeping!!!

  • Broken Trust MUSCLE
    Apr 14 2024

Having a "broken trust muscle" usually refers to a difficulty or inability to trust others due to past experiences of betrayal, disappointment, or trauma. It's like a metaphorical muscle that has been injured and needs time, care, and sometimes therapy to heal and regain strength.

    Mar 31 2024

Discussions about hair, especially when it comes to topics like race and culture, can be complex and sensitive. It's important for individuals to feel comfortable sharing their experiences and perspectives with their friends, regardless of race. Having open and respectful conversations can help foster understanding and empathy between friends of different backgrounds.

  • INSURANCE Q&A INSURANCE IS CRUCIAL
    Mar 17 2024

Due to the overwhelming comments about insurance, I had to do a Q&A.

Insurance is critical as it provides financial protection against unforeseen events. Whether it's health, life, auto, or property insurance, having coverage can mitigate the impact of unexpected circumstances, offering peace of mind and financial security. It acts as a safety net, helping individuals and families navigate challenging situations with less financial strain.
