  • John Wick Chapter 4
    Mar 29 2023

A return to Big Wick Energy, baby! John Wick Chapter 4 is in theaters now and there's so much to unpack. Let's sit with first reactions to the film, unravel a few juicy details, dissect our end credits scene, and dive into a perhaps unhinged theory about a potential John Wick 5 tied to the Bowery King, the High Table, and the inevitability of revolution.

  • Fantasy & Mortality in John Wick
    Feb 10 2023

Why can John Wick get hit by so many cars? How did he survive a fall off a massive hotel, slapping into every balcony in New York City on the way down? in lieu of a normal, stale recap before John Wick Chapter 4, let's look at the fantasy action-adventure genre ghost of the past, examine the soul, hell, purgatory, Dante, Odysseus, Hades, Zeus, Highlander (I won't apologize) and more. All in all having a very unnormal amount of love and emotion around the possibility of immortality or WORSE in #JohnWick.

  • Tchaikovsky’s Foreshadowing: the Nutcracker in John Wick 3 Parabellum & High Hopes for Ballerina
    Dec 24 2022

in this short, sweet, and vaguely festive episode, let's ask ourselves why Chad Stahelski chose a piece from the Nutcracker- and specifically THAT piece- to introduce the ballet dojo and John Wick's past life as J. J. Ballet in John Wick 3: Parabellum. Does Len Wiseman have what it takes to suffer as well as Stahelski and Tchaikovsky? Will y'all finally watch The Villainess so Mira can do a side episode on it?
