  • Episode 6. WOLVES
    Dec 22 2021
Meet WOLVES, a Los Angeles based duo that is breaking barriers and pushing the boundaries of modern music with their infectious blend of genres. Consisting of songwriters Marc Avery and Sean Carney, the two have created their own unique Pop Alternative sound, coining it “Surf Trap” and have had their music used by BET, MLB, TNT, The CW's “All American”, ESPN, Fast and Furious 9 and have appeared on NBC’s SONGLAND season 2.

Although WOLVES were born in 2016, neither are puppies to the trials and tribulations of life. Its’s quite hard to miss the feeling of the cold Chicago streets in Marc Avery’s voice, echoed by Sean’s soul melting guitar riffs, heard on their previous EP “Welcome To the Top” . Alongside KAIRO, whose booming bass and dramatic sonics lend way to Marc’s playful world play. “Excellent” is a worthy example (as heard on the 2021 NBA All-Star game on TNT) of what they have in mind for their future.

“We wondered what it would be like if we took all these different influences we loved—artists like Rihanna, Post Malone, Coldplay, Earth, Wind, and Fire—and rolled them all into one band today,” Marc muses. Their eclectic influences proved to be inspirational, as heard on their debut single “Animal”.

Having already earned top spots on the Billboard charts and heavy rotation on Sirius XM Hits 1, the duo hopes to inspire audiences across the globe and increase their evolution as artists and creators. With their new single "BLAST OFF" here to continue the wavy vibes, WOLVES will no doubt continue to press the envelope of the forever changing musical landscape.

Connor Abeles began freestyle rapping in drivers ed at age 16 under the name "Straight Eggin'". After moving to Los Angeles in 2018, Abeles formed a rock band under the same name alongside Matt Richards (Sax/Clarinet/Flute), Nick Petrou (Bass), Luke Woodle (Drums) and Jonny Sim (Guitar).

The sound combines the power and spirit of rock & roll with the lyricism of hip-hop and contains elements of jazz and gospel music. Since their inception, Cab Ellis has performed at venues such as the Troubadour, The Lodge Room and Whisky A Go Go.
