Bringing Hollywood to the Bronx | Christina Richardson

  • Résumé

  • This week we're chatting with Christina Richardson, the founder of Bronx Film Initiative. BFI provides disadvantaged youth with a much-needed safe space for creative expression through classes in screenwriting, cinematography, editing and more; their "Let's Make a Movie" Power Course gets public school students to produce a short film in just three hours. Christina started this organization to bring the same experience with filmmaking that she got growing up around LA to the Uptown NYC area. We talk about the magical feeling of being on set, what it's like to be a mother in the industry, and creating diversity in film through early education. Check out Christina on Instagram and come out to the Lincoln Square AMC on October 19th at 6pm for the premiere of BFI's student-produced feature film, AJ's Story. You can RSVP by emailing RSVP@bronxfilminitiative.org.

Filmmaker and youth advocate, Christina G. Richardson has been passionate about story-telling her entire life. She is a talented, creative force in the industry, contributing to projects that have been viewed and enjoyed by millions worldwide! Born and raised in South Central, California, Christina was fortunate enough to have a mother who exposed her to filmmaking and television production at a young age. Her mom planted the seeds which eventually gave life to her budding career in the film industry. Now Christina wants to do the same for NYC teens- provide them with life changing exposure to the world of filmmaking.
