    Ironling is the next book in the Monstrous World series by author S.E. Wendel. It is named after the hunky hard working blacksmith Hakon, a half-orc who moved into the Darrow lands looking for a better life (and maybe even a wife). Hakon gets a job as an iron smith and falls in love with Lady Aislinn of the darrowlands. Lady Aislinn designs iron tools she needs and asks Hakon to help her build them. They are smitten with each other and have to sneak in time to hang out because Aislinn is usually booked sunup to sundown. Everything changes when Aislinn's criminal deadbeat brother, and rival heir to the Darrowlands, breaks out of his prison and seeks revenge. Positive disability representation is a big feature in this story! Lady Aislinn is autistic and struggles with the pressure of her lady duties and controlling her meltdowns.     We take a turn from the romantasy to read a horror book by a trans author (at Izzy's request). This book is a lot of things and boring is not one of them. It is a painful and disturbing exploration of fascism in Britain that is represented as a haunted house that convinces people to turn on each other.


    Aryn did not like it and was very confused by it. In this episode special guest Taylor and host Izzy help host Aryn understand and break down the symbolism and metaphors in this incredibly resonant and complex horror novel. This book is not for the faint of heart. Proceed with caution.
