I found a post that I’ve used before in my classes while teaching along with my players while coaching. This post came from The Winning Difference (@thewinningdiff1) and in the audio I share here in this episode, you can hear the passion, the love, the gratitude from Coach Jim Valvano. “The gift my father gave me every day of my life was he believed in me. My father believed in me, he believed in me when I failed. When I didn’t measure up to my standard or someone else’s standard he’d look me in the eye and he’d say you’re going to make it,” Jim Valvano. There are so many instances of the importance of having belief in our lives. Head Football Coach and one of my teachers, Tom Mach from my high school, Detroit Catholic Central would always have this saying from when he started teaching at coaching at CC in 1976 and he still shares it when he speaks to students, players, coaches & educators today! It’s his phrase that is just one of many things he’s best known for: "the magic is in believing," a mantra that has inspired countless students to embrace the power of their belief in God, your family, your team, your loved ones, along with others. Finally in one of my favorite shows that I’ve ever watched, “Ted Lasso” starring Jason Sudeikis, has a main part of the series with his sign “Believe” that he hangs in their locker room and all the team / life connections that come with it. Do yourself a favor and find how to watch this show!! One thing for sure, is from all of this I need to do a much better job in believing in others along with believing in myself even more. The world sure could use more of this of us believing & encouraging others.
