  • Skills for Life: Discovering Free Resources at the Local Library with Brandon King

    In this episode we are joined by Brandon King. Brandon is an instructor and facilitator for programming at the Gwinnett County Public Library's Learning Labs. He has been in this position for four years, primarily leading sessions on audio/video recording, basic sewing, photography, and a variety of other topics. As a GCPL employee, he is dedicated to helping patrons discover the resources available to them for free through the Library and spark their autonomy as they are developing new skills in life.

    He is sharing some of the free resources that are available in our county library, such as: workshops, resume writing, computer classes, wellness seminars, podcasting and media spaces, assistance with applying for social resources such as housing, food stamps and other benefits, online tutoring, sewing classes, language classes and many others.

  • Creative Solutions for Positive Change: How Arts Programs Shape the Future of Youth

    In this episode we sit down with David N. Mitchell, President and CEO of The Unity Production Group, LLC. and Dir. of Drama Ministry for the AME Church. Mitchell is Chicago native and a graduate of Grambling State University. He holds a B.A. in Theatre and Business and is an award winning playwright, actor and director.

    Mitchell combined his love for theatre and ministry to found "The Tipping Point Project in Asheville, NC to meet the needs of their youth population. The program uses theatre to address the modern day challenges of drugs, crime, violence, and negative behaviors.

    Mitchell and his program have received national recognition by the National League of Cities for its creative effectiveness in decreasing crime in communities and increasing academic performance for youth participants.

  • From Activism to Action: Laura Judge's School Board Campaign

    We sit down with Cobb County School Board Candidate, Laura Judge. Laura Judge is a mom, a Navy veteran, and a passionate educational justice advocate. She is also a volunteer lead with Moms Demand Action and an active PTA member. She speaks during public comment at school board meetings regularly, holds educational events for students at a county level, and shares the importance of keeping kids safe around firearms.

    Laura is currently the President and Chief Operations Officer of Content Monsta, a marketing business she started with her husband. She recently served as the Education Chair of the Cobb County Commission District 2 Community Cabinet. Currently, she focuses on her two children thriving in the school environment while supporting their extra-curricular activities.

  • Feeding Hope: The Impact of Nonprofits on the Unhoused Community

    Nikki Reeves and Leroy Lamar cofounded Comprehensive Community Services. Nikki serves as both the Director of Operations and volunteer coordinator. She has extensive experience working with vulnerable populations, including volunteering with anti-trafficking organizations for two years before settling in at Serenity’s Steps, the predecessor to CCS.


    Leroy has significant experience in service provision and relationship building, particularly within the homelessness and nonprofit sector. He has worked with youth at Young Life, providing him with additional experience working with this population. Together, Leroy and Nikki bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to their roles, making them valuable assets to the organization


    The dynamic duo work to fight against human trafficking, feeding at risk populations, providing transitional housing and mobile showers, laundry facilities and a safe space for community members.
