  • William B. Lewis: Building Trial Attorneys, Jury Selection Secrets & More
    Jan 18 2024

Will Lewis is a partner and manages the firm’s Southeast Florida offices.

William is an experienced trial attorney with an established track record of significant recoveries.  He has won jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations in venues throughout Florida.  He has also recovered numerous settlements for his clients – many in excess of a million dollars.

William litigates cases on a contingency-fee basis, which allows his clients to level the playing field against larger, wealthier, or insured opponents. He is driven by the philosophy that justice requires cases to be decided on the merits – not by the size of a corporation’s or insurance company’s legal budget.

William has been named by U.S. News & World Report as one of The Best Lawyers in America. He has been recognized by Florida Trend Magazine as Florida’s “Legal Elite.” He has been named a Florida Super Lawyer. And he has been honored by his peers as one of Palm Beach Illustrated’s “Top Lawyers.”

William has been appointed to multiple terms on the Florida Bar’s Committee on Professionalism. He has been the chair of both the Palm Beach County Bar’s Circuit Civil Court Committee and its Business Litigation Committee. In 2020, he was recognized by the South Florida Business Journal as a 40 under 40 honoree.

While in law school, William interned at the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted multiple successful jury trials.

William graduated with honors from Colgate University and the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he was a board member of the Florida Journal of Law and Public Policy, and received an MBA from the University of Florida Hough School of Business.

  • Keenan Nix: The Strategy of Storytelling
    Sep 28 2023

Keenan Nix lights up a courtroom with the sheer force of his personality and palpable passion. And given that the focus of his practice is on catastrophic injury and wrongful death litigation, he always enters the courtroom swinging. Annually recognized by his peers as one of Atlanta’s “SuperLawyers” and inducted into the Gate City Bar Association “Hall of Fame” in 2018, Nix has been a trial lawyer for close on 30 years and loves to talk about the passion of his life: helping people.

Authenticity is his calling card. Nix has an unshakeable belief that juries can smell insincerity from a mile away and that the currency of any courtroom is credibility. Be your most authentic self, he asserts, and it will become infectious.

In this episode of Court Chronicles, Nix shares his strategies for obtaining seven-figure verdicts and settlements for the catastrophically injured and for the families of deceased victims. He explores the paramount importance of storytelling in catastrophic cases and discusses the redemptive value of money to restore a victim’s sense of self-worth, dignity, autonomy, and access to quality medical care. On representing victims of traumatic brain injury, Nix addresses how to counteract the frequent arguments brought by defense that mild brain trauma is somehow less deserved of fair compensation.

In this episode, Emily unpacks the many fascinating aspects of this litigation, including the rise of social media addiction and its consequences, issues of liability and proof when litigating social media addiction cases, and evidence of social media companies' alleged knowledge that their products cause addiction in young people.

  • Jonathan Sedgh: The $9 Billion Verdict & The BIG Ozempic Case
    Aug 16 2023

Jonathan M. Sedgh is a Mass Tort Product Liability Partner in our New York City office. Over the course of more than a decade practicing law, he has played an instrumental role in various lawsuits against the makers of dangerous and defective pharmaceuticals and medical devices. He also helps survivors of sex trafficking and childhood sexual abuse pursue justice against their perpetrators, institutions and the hotel industry who turned a blind eye to their victimization.

Notably, in 2014, Mr. Sedgh helped recover a $9 billion verdict in a three-month trial for his client who developed bladder cancer after taking Actos, an anti-diabetic medication. The civil verdict, delivered by a jury of eight, is still one of the largest jury awards in history.

One of the most monumental filed lawsuits today is against Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly and Company. They are the manufacturers of diabetes and weight loss drugs Ozempic® and Mounjaro™. Morgan & Morgan is alleging that the companies failed to warn of the risk of significant injuries caused by the drugs.

Jonathan discusses the significance of the case and how every person knows a person impacted by the drug.
