Creating Belonging with Natalie Borch

  • Résumé

  • How often have you walked into a space and felt like you didn’t belong? Whether it’s the snobby receptionist, the name-brand workout clothes, or the unspoken exclusivity, it can feel alienating. Natalie Borch, the founder of The Pink Studio, knows this experience all too well—and she’s made it her mission to change it.

In this episode, Natalie shares her story of how being a plus-size dancer in the early 2000s, during the height of fatphobia, led her to step away from dance. It wasn’t until a decade later, as a new mom feeling disconnected from herself, that she rediscovered the joy and power of movement. This journey not only transformed her personally but also inspired her to create The Pink Studio, a safe, inclusive space where all bodies and abilities are celebrated.

This conversation is a powerful reminder of the impact we can have when we build communities that truly welcome and uplift everyone.

    In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

    • How Natalie’s experience as a plus-size dancer shaped her vision for inclusivity
    • Why she rediscovered dance during her postpartum years and how it transformed her life
    • The inspiration behind The Pink Studio and its mission to celebrate all bodies
    • How creating belonging in our spaces can profoundly impact our communities
    • Natalie’s next chapter: opening Cake Cabaret, a performing arts venue in Toronto

Guest Bio: Natalie is the founder of The Pink Studio, Dance & Fitness.
