News: Some big updates are coming to the hotels at the Disneyland Resort. This Spring, Napa Rose will close to undergo a refurbishment that will bring French oak flooring and columns, which is the type of wood used to make wine barrels, new lighting, and materials throughout the restaurant. Expanded counters will allow more guests to experience the open kitchen, and a new outdoor patio will be added. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/exciting-new-additions-hotels-of-disneyland-resort/ Two new Concierge lounges will be coming to the Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Grand Californian. The High Key Club will open at the Disneyland Hotel, celebrating Disneyland in 1955. The overall aesthetic will be mid-century modern and will nearly double the previous club-level lounge in the Adventure Tower. A second club-level lounge will open at the Grand Californian. The new two-story space will celebrate the California Craftsman style and be located on the 5th and 6th floors overlooking the Great Hall lobby. New decor will added to every guest room, including the Disney Vacation Club Villas. The new suites will feature two bedrooms. The Coco Suite will have Oaxacan [Wah-Hah-Kihn]-style architecture with terracotta tiling, Mexican artisan quilted and woven pieces, a fireplace, and more. The Incredibles Suite will be a mid-century modern design with a “spy-fi” twist. A room designed by Edna Mode herself will be one of the spaces, along with a hand-scanning prop at the entryway, among other special effects. Disney Wonderful World of Sweets, which replaces Marceline’s Confectionary opened last week. The shop is spacious and offers many of the same items as Marceline’s. A new offering is the Werther’s Original Caramel popcorn. There is a nod to Marceline, MO in the train display in the window. Storyland Boutique, which is in the old Wonderground location, also opened offering a ever-changing theme. The second week will feature Grammy Award-nominated gospel singer Melvin Crispell, III. News: The original version of the Haunted Mansion opened this week, and with it a new bride has appeared! The new bride replaces the previous Constance Hatchaway bride at the end of the attic scene. The new bride appears to be floating above the ground, holding a candelabra instead of a hatchet, with the return of the beating heart effect. In addition to the new bride, her candelabra can now be seen in the endless hallway, and inside a crypt in the graveyard scene. She is joined by a one-eyed cat, similar to the one-eyed cat that was installed previously. A Mickey-shaped snake was cooked up by the culinary team at the resort to honor the holiday. Check out the link in the show notes for all the details. – New Year, New Perks — Exclusive Popcorn Bucket and MORE Revealed for Disneyland Passholders | the disney food blog A new set of entrance gates have been unveiled at Disneyland. This is a project that has been progressing through versions for the last year at Disney California Adventure. It appears the resort has landed on a system that will work for them. The new gates allow guests to scan their own tickets and take a photo if one is not on file, allowing entrance with a valid park ticket and reservation. The new system should cut down on the amount of cast needed at the entrance to the parks and could result in faster entry for experienced guests. – Disneyland Update – Tiger Unleashed, Gate Update & Legal Fallout A missing element has returned to the Jungle Cruise. The temple that the Bengal Tiger was housed in has been restored. The previous show scene was removed after the elements and time had taken it’s toll. After almost a year and considerable work, the restored scene looks great. – Disneyland Update – Tiger Unleashed, Gate Update & Legal Fallout Another update at Disneyland has happened at Pixie Hollow. The lagoon area has been under construction for months, with no clear explanation on what was being done. Now that the walls have come down, we know that a new fountain and water features were being installed. Little themed elements have returned to the area, and the painted blue lagoon looks refreshing and clean. The meet and greet area is still under refurbishment. – Disneyland Update – Tiger Unleashed, Gate Update & Legal Fallout Cast members who were working at the resort when Measure L was passed will be getting some back pay. Measure L is the Anaheim minimum wage law. News: The calendar for 2025 at the Disneyland Resort has been posted! Lunar New Year, Celebrate Gospel, Food and Wine Festival, Season of the Force, Halloween Time, A Celebration of Coco Plaza de la Familia, The Holidays, and Festival of the Holidays are all returning. Sweetheart’s Nite has expanded to 8 nights in late January and early February, 90s Nite on two nights in March, Star Wars Nite on 8 nights in April and early May, and Pride Nite on June 16th and 18th. As of December 10th, the virtual queue option has been discontinued and there is a standby queue. Of course Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Premier Pass are also available. This week, the new Avengers-themed shop, Avengers Reserve, opened. The new shop features a ton of Marvel characters inside and out. Disney announced that the last operating day for the attraction will be February 8th. One of the trolleys should be parked on Buena Vista Street to allow for photos during construction. The sign for the shop “Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond” has a crystal ball and some spectral smoke. Unlike the other signs all over Bayou Country, this is a flat sign and not a fancy carved sign. – DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Bayou Undo, 70th To-Do, & Candlelight Too! More sights and sounds are coming to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. News: Plans have been submitted to the city of Anaheim for prep work to begin the expansion of Avengers Campus. The plan includes utilities, temporary trailers, and parking lots in the backstage area behind Avengers Campus. The expansion is NOT part of the DisneylandForward plan, according to the city. Construction should begin in 2025. – NEWS: Disney Submits Plans for NEW Park Expansion | the disney food blog Last week was Thanksgiving in the United States, and Walt Disney World and Disneyland helped those in need. In Anaheim, Disneyland teamed up with Northgate Gonzalez Markets to deliver groceries to 125 families, and $15,000 in holiday food vouchers to community nonprofits. The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Anaheim-Cypress, Anaheim Independica Family Resource Center, and Chrysalis Anaheim were all recipients of the vouchers. – Disney Serves Up Food for Families in Need this Thanksgiving – Disney Parks Blog We talked about the new Haunted Mansion queue last week on the podcast, and even more in the bonus episode that is out now for supporters, but Disney has posted even more about it on the Disney Parks Blog. The first part of the new queue was designed by Master Gracey, one of the mansion’s ghosts. Further along is Madame Leota’s garden. Finally, near the back of the queue is the mansion greenhouse, which belongs to all the mansion’s ghosts. The new shop also has a name now – Somewhere Beyond. Before being a shop, the cariiage house was home to the mansion’s head caretaker, but Madame Leota took over. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/new-haunted-mansion-experiences-disneyland/ This holiday season is the first for the newly reimagined Pixar Place Hotel. There are multiple trees around the lobby, each themed to a different Disney/Pixar movie. In addition to the trees, there are also other holiday decorations around the guest areas, inside and out. – DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Holiday Humbugs, Haunted Happenings & the Pricing Paradox The snack cart in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel lobby has been expanded. D-Lander. which features high-end products and collaborations with different clothing and jewelry brands. Later this week, Avenges Reserve will open next door, featuring a selection of Marvel themed items. – DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Holiday Humbugs, Haunted Happenings & the Pricing Paradox Before the Walt Disney – A Magical Life shop even debuts to the public, there is already some controversy. The immediate family of Walt Disney himself are asking guests to write in to the company to get the animatronic Walt scrapped.
