    Dive into the mind of Carla Gutierrez, director and editor of FRIDA, a documentary film about iconic Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. In this episode we learned how Carla infused her own experiences as an immigrant and as a woman to discover the complex individual behind Frida Kahlo.     Our guest today is an Emmy and Eddie nominated documentary filmmaker. Carla made her directorial debut in 2024 with FRIDA, an Amazon MGM Studios original.

    Her work as an editor includes: the Oscar nominated films RBG, about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and LA CORONA. She edited JULIA, about renowned chef, and television personality Julia Child (Telluride, Toronto Film Festivals, CNN Films); and PRAY AWAY (Tribeca, Telluride, Netflix Original).
