God instructs Israel to consecrate the tent of meeting and all its tools with a unique oil developed and produced by the best perfumers in Israel. This oil was not to be used for anything else, lest the one using it for common purposes was to be exiled. Why such a severe punishment for using a certain brand of oil as something common?

Along with the annual atoning sacrifice, each Israelite male 20 years and over was to give a financial offering to make atonement for himself--an imperfect payment. When Christ came, He was not only our perfect substitutionary atonement, He perfectly redeemed us--purchasing us for a price.

Food and drink became important symbols for both the Jews and the Christians. God desires not only to commune with His people. He is, quite literally, our sustenance.

The sacrificial system pointed backward to what God did for Adam and Eve and forward to what Christ would do on the cross. The life of Christ was imputed to us while our sin was imputed to Him--The Great Exchange.

Aaron and his sons are ordained. This meant two things. 1) The congregation of Israel was to affirm a decision God had already made. 2) The congregation was to equip their ministers for service and ensure they were provided for.

The priestly garment and the description of the church in Revelation 21 are very similar--almost like it was done on purpose. God is preparing His bride.

Worship is not once in a lifetime or on occasion. It is an everyday thing. God makes Himself available to His people and ready 24 hours a day and 7 days a week–perpetually forever.

To say that we go to church or anywhere in order to approach God will always leave us dissatisfied because God is holy and unapproachable. Instead, we go to sing to and learn from God because He has come to us. We love because He first loved us.
