I'm going to post my entire show notes into the description. Nobody reads these anyway...

Welcome back to the February 11th edition of the daily NBA report

I’m alexander jay - just 4 games today in the NBA but each and every single one felt impactful - i’ll highlight exactly why in a moment

If you’re in Australia and an AFL guy - leave us a 5 star review, then head over to Breakout Footy Podcast, hosted by friend of the show sports commentator Jack Brophy to hear everything that’s important across the AFL, as it happens. Jack’s also a Detroit Pistons guy so god knows he needs some support after sticking it through this last rebuild

As always, remember to follow the show on our new IG page @thedailynbapod - stick around to the end of the show for a news dump

    Phi v tor

In the first of 4 games tonight the Philadelpia 76ers, with Tyrese Maxey, Paul George and Joel Embiid took on the Toronto Raptors on a 4 game losing streak in Philadelphia

Why did this one feel impactful? Well, it felt like the end of a chance at a meaningful season for the sixers,

Philly falling 106-103 to the Raptors, on the back of a careless Embiid turnover at the death in front of their own fans at Wells Fargo Center

In the win Scottie Barnes scored 33 points, Immanuel Quickley added 23 on 7 of 11 shooting, Grady dick added 17 including a big 3 late and the quote unquote steal on Joel Embiid to seal it.

Philadelphia, playing with their big 3 and at home could not shake the Raptors, 99% of the second half taking place with the scores within 5 points.

Outside of Embiid’s 27 points/12r - philly looked awful. Paul George finished with 14 points, Tyrese Maxey shot 1 for 9 for just 5 points and a game worst +/- of -15… I mean when you’re getting your second best effort from 2021’s Second Rounder in Guard Jared Butler (15p in 15m), maybe it’s time to shut it down.

Philly’s record is now a dismal 20 and 33… 37% win percentage and they’’re 11th in the Eastern Conference. I’m actually a big Joel Embiid guy when healthy (I bet on him to win MVP every year from 2019 to 2023), but at some point you gotta force him down for the season and let him get right. There is no use wasting him on this season. They play the Nets one last time before the All-Star break this weekend.

    Pacers v knicks

The Pacers v Knicks tonight was impactful, showing us just how the New York Knicks can outscore an offensive minded team in the Indiana Pacers - even without OG Anunoby and with Jalen Brunson in foul trouble early

Karl-Anthony Towns had 40 points and 12 rebounds, Josh Hart added 30 points and 10 rebounds and the New York Knicks beat the Indiana Pacers 128-11

Pascal Siakam scored 24 for the Pacers, longtime favourtite of the show Thomas Bryant (i loved him as a Lakers rookie pre-covid) picked up 18 points

    Griz v suns

Kevin Durant scored 34 points, including his 30,000th career point - only the 8th every to reach that mark in NBA History - but this Phoenix and Grizzlies game was impactful, the final nail in the coffin proving to us that KD is wasting his twilight years in Phoenix

Memphis 119 - KD and the Suns 112

Outside of a 2 point lead in the early minutes, the Suns were behind the entire game, double digit leads leaving them behind much of the 2nd and 3rd quarters before a spirited attempt in the final quarter and back to back baskets to Bol Bol got the deficit down to 3 points with a couple mintues to play

But in the space of 73 seconds with under 2 minutes to play KD missed a layup, a free throw and committed 2 back to back fouls picked up a block and then turned the
