LEGO: A Foundation That LastsGroaning For GrowthJon FredricksToday's Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:1-10 NIV__________ 2 Corinthians 1:24 NIV24 Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, because it is by faith you stand firm. 2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:1-10 NIV5 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, 3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. 1) G: GET INVOLVED2 Corinthians 5:6 NIV6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. Matthew 8:19-23 NIV19 Then a scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.” 20 And Jesus *said to him, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” 21 And another of the disciples said to Him, “Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.” 22 But Jesus *said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.” 23 When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. Ecclesiastes 11:4 Living Bible4 If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done. 2) R: REGULARLY SHOW UP2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV7 For we live by faith, not by sight. Hebrews 10:24-25 NIV24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. 3) O: OPEN UP2 Corinthians 5:2 NIV2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, Proverbs 12:1 NIVWhoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid. Luke 1:53 NIV53 He has filled the hungry with good things, And sent the rich away empty-handed. Mark 2:17 NIV17 And hearing this, Jesus *said to them, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” 4) A: ACT ON IT2 Corinthians 5:9 NIV9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. John 14:23 NIV23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 5) N: NEVER EVER QUIT2 Corinthians 5:10 NIV10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

  • Developing a Dependance - January 4, 2026

LEGO: A Foundation That LastsDeveloping a DependanceJon FredricksToday's Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:7-18 __________Hebrews 11:6 NIVAnd without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Luke 18:8 NIVHowever, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” 2 Corinthians 1:24 NIV24 Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, because it is by faith you stand firm. 2 Corinthians 1:8 NIV8 We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. 2 Corinthians 4:7-18 NIV7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. 12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you. 13 It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, 14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. 15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 1:9 NIV9 Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. 2 Timothy 1:12 NIV12 because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day. Proverbs 3:5 NIV5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; Jude 1:20 NIV20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, Colossians 2:6-7 NIV6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Exodus 20:3 NIV3 “You shall have no other gods before me. 1) REFLECT ON WHAT YOU TYPICALLY LEAN INTO (TRUST)2 Corinthians 1:8 NIV8 We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. Philippians 3:4-7 NIV4 though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; 6 as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless. 7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 2) MAKE A DECISION TO CHANGE ALLEGIANCE2 Corinthians 1:10 NIV 3) CREATE SPACE TO DEVELOP DEPENDANCE2 Corinthians 4:18 NIV 4) PRACTICE THE WAITRomans 8:25 NIV Psalm 27:14 NIV Isaiah 40:31 ESV

18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
