Come near to God and he will come near to you.

    Proverbs 15:29 NIV

The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

    James 5:16 NIV

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

    Acts 10:1-4 NIV

At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment. 2 He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. 3 One day at about three in the afternoon he had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, “Cornelius!” 4Cornelius stared at him in fear. “What is it, Lord?” he asked. The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.”

    Isaiah 58:10 NIV

and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry

and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,

then your light will rise in the darkness,

and your night will become like the noonday.

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

    Matthew 17:20 NIV

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

    Galatians 3:11 NIV

11 Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.”

    Galatians 3:14 NIV

He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

    John 14:13 NIV

13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Praying Like It MattersPrayer AchesBobby HumesToday's Scripture: Habakkuk 1:1-4 ESV__________Psalm 139:1-4 ESVO Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. Habakkuk 1:1-4 ESV1 The oracle that Habakkuk the prophet saw.Habakkuk's Complaint2 O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear?Or cry to you “Violence!”and you will not save?3 Why do you make me see iniquity, and why do you idly look at wrong?Destruction and violence are before me;strife and contention arise.4 So the law is paralyzed, and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous;so justice goes forth perverted. Habakkuk 1:5-7 ESVThe Lord's Answer5 “Look among the nations, and see;wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your daysthat you would not believe if told.6 For behold, I am raising up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, who march through the breadth of the earth,to seize dwellings not their own.7 They are dreaded and fearsome;their justice and dignity go forth from themselves. Habakkuk 1:10-11 ESV10 At kings they scoff, and at rulers they laugh. They laugh at every fortress, for they pile up earth and take it.11 Then they sweep by like the wind and go on,guilty men, whose own might is their god!” Habakkuk 1:12-13 ESVHabakkuk's Second Complaint12 Are you not from everlasting,O Lord my God, my Holy One?We shall not die.O Lord, you have ordained them as a judgment, and you, O Rock, have established them for reproof.13 You who are of purer eyes than to see eviland cannot look at wrong, why do you idly look at traitorsand remain silent when the wicked swallows upthe man more righteous than he? Habakkuk 1:17 ESV17 Is he then to keep on emptying his netand mercilessly killing nations forever? Habakkuk 1:2 MSGGod, how long do I have to cry out for help before you listen? Romans 12:19 ESVBeloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” Matthew 5:38-39 ESV“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil.
