    Hey everyone!

On this episode of the Dissecting Medicine Podcast, I chat with three of the moderation team of the r/GAMSAT subreddit and Discord server, Liv, Renee, and Luke.

It was fantastic to meet everybody and discuss a range of topics from the subreddit and its role, democratising medical applications, preparing for GAMSAT and interviews, as well as some insights into the first semester as a medical student.

Apologies that we didn't get time to answer all of your questions but we'll be sure to get to them as soon as possible and get back to you individually :)

I hope you enjoy the episode!

  • Just me this time | Tutoring & Business | Why Medicine?
    Jun 19 2022

Hey everyone! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to arrange a guest and new episode in time for this weekend but want to keep up the consistency of the podcast. In this episode, I break down my first twelve years as a tutor and a business owner and employer.

If you were interested in learning a little more about my backstory and how I got into my line of work and what led me to YouTube and to the decision to pursue medicine (again), then I hope you find this an enjoyable watch/listen?

The Dissecting Medicine Podcast sees conversations with medical professionals at all points in their careers to provide insights into the realities of practice in Australia as I myself learn about where I'd like to take my own career in the field. I'll also be interviewing allied health professionals, researchers, public health experts and policymakers to give a broader and more informed perspective to prospective and current medical students in planning their own careers (myself included) and ultimately deliver the greatest level of care to patients.

  • Dr. Travis Lines - Internship, Residency, & The Australian Healthcare System
    May 8 2022

Dr. Travis Lines is a Hospital Medical Officer at the Alfred Hospital. Travis completed a combined Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health at The University of Melbourne in 2020 and is currently completing a Graduate Diploma of Biostatistics at The University of Sydney and a Graduate Certificate in Public Policy at The Australian National University. Travis has dedicated much of his spare time to volunteering and working to fight social and financial inequities, with a record of volunteer work longer than we probably have time to itemise. Travis is fluent in Spanish and possibly Mandarin (?) and is likely the biggest fan that the Richmond Tigers have had yet!

  • Podcast Trailer
    May 2 2022

Welcome to the Dissecting Medicine Podcast. My name is Jesse and I am a medical school applicant in Australia hopeful to be studying medicine next year and planning a career in the health field. Making the switch to medicine later in life at 30, I'm fascinated by career paths and career changes but I'd also like to be more informed about the many aspects of health, healthcare delivery, and its contributories.

On this podcast, I interview practising physicians, specialists, nurses, allied health professionals, medical researchers, educators and academics, as well as public health & policy experts. You might be undecided on which path you'd like to pursue in this field and these insights will hopefully guide that, or if you are clear on your own path, I think that these conversations will reveal insights that will give us all a more global understanding of the broader direction of healthcare in Australia, making us better decision makers and carers for others.

If you'd like to watch the conversations, you can catch them on my YouTube channel.
