  • Résumé

  • Today, we will talk about the Donald Trump hush money trial, which, as you may have seen, just concluded last week. Now, if you don’t live in America, you may not understand why, or how, every topic about Donald Trump becomes political and controversial. For this reason, I am going to try and just stick to the facts, and then, later, I will try to explain why everything becomes so divisive, or political, in America these days.

So, last week, the jury, or the people selected to hear the evidence from both sides, made their final decision or, as we say, reached a verdict in this trial. They found Donald Trump guilty of 34 different felonies. To find someone guilty means to say that they did something wrong, or committed a crime. A felony, if you don’t know, is a more serious crime than a misdemeanor. A misdemeanor could be something like shoplifting—which means to steal from a store—or being drunk in public. A felony is more serious, things like murder, kidnapping, and rape. Among felonies, there are lesser and more severe crimes, and the ones that Donald Trump was found guilty of are the less serious kind, the financial crime kind. So, without further ado, let’s look at what happened.
