  • Hello, Good Evening and Bollocks (Pilot)
    Dec 10 2021

Ben Baker hosts a retrospective look back at one of his biggest loves and influences: Viz, the adult comic founded by teenage cartoonist Chris Donald which has made people laugh, guffaw, chuckle, snort and wheeze with its mixture of comic strips, newspaper spoofs, rude words, bottoms, bollocks and general buggering about since issue one, sold as The Bumper Monster Christmas Special, first appeared at a gig in the Gosforth Hotel pub on the 10th December 1979.

Musician and podcaster Paul Abbott joins him to discuss that first issue and where it sits in the UK's comic history, reflecting as it has over four decades of fads, trends and Macc Lads revival tours. Although mostly they're just going to laugh a lot at rude words. Enjoy.

WARNING: Contains very bad language....though you'd be sad if it didn't.

  • NEW PODCAST! Ben Baker's Christmas Box
    Dec 6 2021

Welcome to Ben Baker's Christmas Box, a seasonally swanky trip through television's present-wrapped past. In each short episode of my new series I talk to a guest about something that represents the Christmas period to them and today I'm joined by musician, podcaster and composer of my amazing new theme tune Paul Abbott who has brought to the turkey-stained table "Peace On Earth", a 1939 Christmas cartoon all about the very least festive subject imaginable. He's here to expunge some childhood terrors and pass them onto us...Merry Deathmas!

  • Ketchup and Rings (May 18th)
    May 18 2021

Do you want to listen to a podcast about rotten Draculas, strange handprints, Pope swapping, TV monkey homing, New Zealand's unusual chart toppers, the art of Star Trek Captain naming and Tom Mix's horse Tony among things? Well, this was indeed the series for you!

Sadly this is the final regular episode of "Don't Lets Chart". We've really enjoyed our two and a half years of creating silly list trivia but we both feel we've done as much as we can under the current name. We will return with something different soon but for now its goodbye and a huge thank you for listening to our daft series.

    Love and Robots,

    Ben and Phil

  • Brasso Police (April 20th)
    Apr 20 2021

Welcome to the podcast that tries to charge head first through today via the distraction of yesterday with lists, trivia and thirteen litres of Old Ianson’s Dad Botherer up the park. In today's episode we're taking a look at April 20th throughout the years and learn why Street Fighter The Movie The Game did not need to exist, who has the annually best bottoms, when Macbeth was first misquoted for comedy value, what a pineapple farmer might be, who came afoul of a "swamp rabbit", how you could lick a James Bond, when the Red Baron was a dog, what Phil's closest lookalike is, how to tell the "unpasteurised milk" joke, what George Burns and Captain Tom have in common (other than that) and there's the tragic history of Davey Dirtbox. Plus much more all packed into a very funny half hour in which you might learn something but only if you read an encyclopedia whilst listening.

Listen, share, hit subscribe, wear a tie that stinks of chicken, all that usual stuff. We're a small scale homemade show with just two people so all the support is gratefully received.

  • The Most Beautiful Steve (April 13th)
    Apr 13 2021
Want to learn some genuinely true facts from this date in time but also like silly people making jokes about Slimer's buttocks, sexy elephants and the Fuse bar throughout? Then "Don't Lets Chart" is your podcast! Its quite the trunk laden episode too with the internet's most burning questions about peanut-eating pachyderms alongside a visit to Pope Martin, 1962's biggest novelty hit, the perfection of tap dancing, Bobby Brown's unfortunate stomach troubles, cannibalism in comedy, the most misquoted movie moments, Metallica taking on the internet, a ban from the ping pong council, the possibility of a 'Jeff Erson', needless references to You Bet!, tear-pumping poetry and much more. But no Darren Day. This podcast is hosted by Phil Catterall and Ben Baker and was produced by Ben. It is not in any way sponsored by the Fuse bar. Because it was discontinued in 2006. And if you like this, please please tell your friends. Listen, share, hit subscribe, fight a bear, all that usual stuff. We're a small scale homemade show with just two people and listener numbers are way down during the pandemic so all the support is gratefully received. • I've Patented A Shoe (April 6th)
    Apr 6 2021

Don't Lets Chart is a podcast that looks at the current day in history, shakes it for interesting trivia and then spray paints "BUMS" over the top of it.

In this look at the April 6ths of time, Ben Baker and Phil Catterall learn about America's furry millionaire, Tartan Day, Napoleon's more petty acts of sulking, celluloid filth, Olympic pigeon bothering, the true inventor of the Pog, Steve Video Plus, boxing for peace, how Teddy Roosevelt definitely sounded, the early days of animation, ABBA's rise to Eurovision dominance, New Beer's Eve, the sadness of Spare Dad Three, patently untrue patents and lots more on the way. Plus our resident robot is here with his topical take on the news.
