Union Pacific’s gleaming art deco building was state-of-the-art and on the cutting edge of design and fabrication when it opened for passenger service on January 15, 1931. Museums exist to preserve the cultural identity of people and places. The objects in their possession all have stories and sometimes those stories have many twists and turns.
