  • Imagine being a Harvard admissions officer - do you accept a white female from a poorer background or an African-American/Canadian female from a privileged background? What about if you were hiring for a major bank and needed good publicity? What inherent trait is more important - race, gender, or financial status? This thought experiment highlights the debate in this episode as we talk about: This house believes that the world would be a better place if women from privileged backgrounds turned down benefits arising from affirmative action programs.
