Story and Art by Gail Nobles

Ladies and gentlemen, gather around and allow me to entertain you with the news of last night’s Super Bowl extravaganza, a clash of titans that saw the Philadelphia Eagles soar to unprecedented heights against the formidable Kansas City Chiefs! Oh, what a spectacle it was, a veritable feast for the senses that unfolded under the bright lights of the grandest stage in football!

The curtains may have only been drawn on the first quarter, but take note, fans, for it was Jaylen Hurts, that indomitable force of nature, who opened the scoring with an early touchdown that etched the Eagles' name on the scoreboard! With the score finely poised at 7-0 dawning upon us, it was clear that the crowd was buzzing, their hopes soaring sky-high as our story began to unfold.

But wait! The second quarter roared to life as Cooper DeJean, a name you’ll not soon forget, carved through the Chiefs’ defense like a hot knife through butter, propelling the Eagles to a staggering 16-0 lead. The cadence of the game, the ebb and flow of strategy, danced on the edge of triumph, and by the 2nd quarter, it was 17-0—a testament to the Eagles' resilience and composure!

As we rolled into the third quarter, AJ Brown stepped onto the stage, and my oh my, what a performance it was! And suddenly, the score ballooned to 23-0. But in a jaw-dropping series of events that would make the most seasoned of fans jump out of their seats, Devonte Smith joined the revelry with yet another touchdown that brought the Eagles to an astonishing 33-0!
At this juncture, my friends, you could practically hear the collective gasp of disbelief reverberating through the stadium! The Chiefs, while proud and valiant, were finding it exceedingly difficult to rise to the occasion.

As the clock ticked away and the dust settled on this grand encounter, the Eagles emerged victorious with a score of 40-22. In the grand tapestry of football history, this performance will surely be woven as a defining moment. The Eagles, ladies and gentlemen, not just champions of the game, but poets on the field, crafting a narrative of brilliance that will be spoken of for ages to come! So there you have it, a resounding celebration of athletic prowess, strategy, and the timeless love affair between football and its fans!

Today we’re going to talk about the extraordinary career of the one and only Bo Jackson! Now, let’s be clear: this man was not just your run-of-the-mill athlete. No, sir! Bo was a phenomenon, a force of nature, a two-sport superstar who made headlines in both baseball and football.

In baseball, Bo had a knack for leaving those poor bats in splinters! Striking out? No problem! He’d snap a bat over his knee like it was a mere twig. Groundout? How about a little theatrics—one bat shattered over his head! It was a sight to behold, and the sheer strength he displayed was a testament to his incredible athleticism.

Let’s shift gears to the football field, where Bo put on another spectacular show. He was known for his blazing speed, clocking in at a jaw-dropping 4.13 seconds for the 40-yard dash. And let me tell you,, that’s faster than a cheetah chasing down its dinner! This man
didn’t just play football; he dominated it. He dazzled the college ranks, winning the coveted Heisman Trophy, symbolizing the best in college football.

But, oh, what a twist of fate! A devastating hip injury cut short his NFL journey, leaving fans and analysts alike pondering, "What if?" What if Bo could have played a full career? The mind races with possibilities. It’s a true sports tragedy, because when you talk about the most naturally gifted athletes in history, Bo Jackson's name is right there at the top of the list, shining bright like a diamond.

Whether he was smashing bats or blazing down the field, Bo Jackson represented the pinnacle of athletic prowess. A dual-threat, a legend, and an icon of sport—a hallmark of greatness that, sadly, we can only imagine if it had continued.

A Modern Day Giant In Lakers Lore

Hello! I'm Gail Nobles. Welcome to EPS!

Let me bring your attention to a towering figure in the world of basketball—the one and only Anthony Davis. Yes, we've seen giants walk the hardwood before—names like Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar have graced the iconic Los Angeles Lakers. What do they all share, you ask? They stood tall, both physically and in the Los Angeles World of basketball greatness.

Now, let's put this in perspective. Chamberlain, in his time as a Laker from 1968 to 1973, made a jaw-dropping 17,783 points, becoming a crucial piece of the Lakers’ success. Then we had the great Kareem, the skyhook magician, lighting it up with a staggering 24,176 points from 1975 to 1989 with the purple and gold. Both of these legends shaped their eras, and they did so from the lofty heights that only a few can claim.

Enter Anthony Davis, a man who was acquired by the Lakers in July 2019. The trade was no small affair, mind you. The Pelicans sent Davis packing, trading him for a bundle that included Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and three first-round picks. It was a transaction that set the stage for a new chapter in Lakers history.

Davis made his much-anticipated debut on October 22, 2019, putting the league on notice with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, though it was a loss to the archrival Clippers. However, it wasn’t long before he started rewriting the record books. Just a week later, on October 29, Davis became the first Laker to post a 40-point, 20-rebound game since the great Shaquille O'Neal did it back in 2003. But hold your horses—he did it in just 30 minutes! That’s right—30 minutes to make history!

But wait, there’s more! In that electrifying performance, he set the NBA record for free throws in a quarter with 18, matching those numbers in a half and even setting the game record at 26. That’s making a statement, folks!

From 2019 to 2025, Anthony Davis has dazzled fans with his variety and skill, racking up a considerable 7,739 points in that time. While some may see that number and think it doesn't stack up against Wilt or Kareem, let me remind you—he's still writing his story.
Then came February 2, 2025—an earth-shattering trade to the Dallas Mavericks, where he joined forces with the incomparable Luka Dončić. Two reigning All-NBA players exchanged midseason? You bet your sneakers, folks! This was a monumental deal that shook the very foundation of the league.

So there you have it—a brief glimpse into the career of Anthony Davis—an athlete who stands tall among the greats and continues to carve his own legacy with every jump shot, rebound, and blocked shot. In the world of basketball, height isn’t just about inches—it’s about impact, and I’d say Davis is definitely making his mark!

    STREETBALL

Richard “Pee Wee” Kirkland, a streetball legend with a story as dynamic as his game!
Born on May 6, 1945, in the heart of Manhattan, Pee Wee rose from the concrete playgrounds to make a mark in the world of basketball. High school hoops? No problem! At Charles Evans Hughes High School, our man Kirkland was lighting it up as an All-City guard. Let’s give it up for those skills!

With a fierce determination and undeniable talent, Pee Wee earned a scholarship to Kittrell College down in North Carolina. And did he deliver? You bet! Averaging a jaw-dropping 41 points per game, he was a scoring machine!

Then it was on to Norfolk State University, where he teamed up with none other than future NBA star Bob Dandridge. Together, they propelled the Spartans to a spectacular CIAA championship in 1968. With a record of 25-2, they were a force to be reckoned with, though they faced a tough exit in the second round of the NCAA Division II Men's Tournament. But Kirkland didn’t let that stop him!

Now fast forward to 1969. The Chicago Bulls came knocking, drafting him with the fourth pick of the thirteenth round! A life-changing opportunity, right? Well, folks, it seems Pee Wee had other plans—rumor has it he turned down the NBA gig because he was raking in more cash through his hustle in the streets. Talk about choosing your own path!

But Kirkland didn’t just leave the game behind; he transformed it! He created the "School of Skillz," a phenomenal basketball and life skills campaign in partnership with Nike! What started as Saturday camps in Harlem has ballooned into a nationwide movement, inspiring the next generation with skills both on and off the court!

As a high school coach at The Dwight School on the Upper West Side, he clinched championships and made waves—even mentoring youth like Hanif "Camel" Warren. Pee Wee uses his phenomenal street cred and basketball prowess to connect with at-risk youth, helping them navigate their paths and reshape their ideas about what it means to “keep it real!"

Pee Wee Kirkland is more than a name in the game. Make sure to keep an eye on this legend as he continues to spread his message across the nation—on and off the court!
Stay tuned, because this is one incredible story that keeps unfolding, right here in the heart of basketball culture!

Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter are both retired NBA stars. Their recent partnership in joining the ownership group of the Buffalo Bills marks an exciting chapter in their careers beyond the basketball court.

As cousins, their bond has been highlighted over the years, and both have had successful careers that have made them household names. McGrady, a seven-time NBA All-Star and two-time scoring champion, is known for his scoring ability, versatility, and innovative play style. Carter, a highlight-reel legend and eight-time NBA All-Star, is celebrated for his aerial acrobatics and longevity in the league.

Their decision to become involved with the Buffalo Bills is noteworthy for several reasons. First, it reflects a growing trend among former athletes seeking to diversify their portfolios and invest in professional sports franchises.
